Welcoming New Members Ceremony

Sunday, May 5 - During the Worship Service

If you are considering membership at UUCD, consider the words of A. Powell Davies (1902-1957):

“By joining this church, you will become committed, not to any fixed intellectual creed, or to any stated body of doctrine, but to a moral and spiritual purpose. You must seek the truth for yourself in the undimmed light of conscience, and whenever you find it, faithfully follow it.”

Please let us know if you have questions or if you need support in discerning whether membership is right for you at this time. You may contact Office Administrator, Kathy Stinnett (218.724.0308 or uucduluth@gmail.com), or the following Membership Committee members: Lorraine (218.834.3774 or lorrainemattson@gmail.com), Alison (218.428.9025 or alisonlutterman@gmail.com), or Molly (218.260.5146 or calbenmn@gmail.com). You can also leave your name on the clipboard at the Visitors’ Center.

Join the Racial Justice Team

for an after-service Potluck & Update Session on Cinco de Mayo!

When: Sunday, May 5 (11:45 am -1 pm) in the Social Hall

Theme: Cinco de Mayo - what does this holiday really celebrate and an RJT update

Bring: A sense of curiosity, and, if you like, food or drink to share

RSVP: Encouraged but not required - Kathy Peterson (kpeteduluth@gmail.com)

Following the May 5 service, we will gather in the social hall for food and conversation. As an opener, we'll talk about the (often misunderstood) history of Cinco de Mayo and intersections with racial justice. We'll also share ways to get involved with UUCD's RJT, a supportive community for racial justice learning and action, including: RJT book club, the Liaison Outreach program, Reparations, and Defending Democracy + #UUtheVote campaign. ¡Espero verles allí! Hope to see you there!

Congregational Connector Volunteer(s) Needed

Would you like to connect in community with other UU organizers from across the state? Would you like to explore what spiritually grounded organizing could look like? Our state-wide organization, Minnesota Unitarian Universalist Social Justice Alliance, is seeking dedicated individuals to serve as liaisons between our organization and their home church.

Each UU congregation in our state is unique and has different models of organization and leadership. We’re seeking folks interested in building a strong web of congregations in communication with one another such that we can amplify and grow our collective power, wisdom, and resources.

For more information or to apply, you can visit MUUSJA.org/volunteer. If you have questions or would like to chat about the position before applying, email Dallas Rising at dallas@muusja.org.

Join MUUSJA for our Spring Sing Event!

Friday, May 17 from 7 - 8:30 pm, Click here for Zoom link.

Join us on Zoom for an evening of music led by singer and songwriter Sarina Partridge! This online concert celebrates the return of spring, raising our energy for the critical justice work that lies ahead of us this year. Together we will learn songs of healing, hope, and renewal, with the option to sing along at home.

Sarina Partridge is a musician, song leader, educator, and activist in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her passion is to create and share songs in service to community and the wild - songs to celebrate seasons, bring groups together, offer thanks, muster courage, and make room for healing and grieving. Sarina has a passion for connecting people with their own creativity and with community, and uses harmony singing as a modality to help folks develop a sense of wonder and belonging in this wild world.

We hope to see you there!
