In less than a week, the first PTSA General Membership meeting will be held Wed, Sept 28 at 9:30am in the Lecture Hall. There will be a brief business meeting followed by our keynote speaker, Principal Greer.
If you are familiar with Principal Greer’s 4 C’s, you'll remember that one of the 4 C’s is “Connect”. We have several upcoming opportunities available for students to “connect” outside the classroom! Students will have a chance to learn about some of those options at Club Day, tomorrow, Fri, Sept 23. We encourage students to take this chance to learn about Langley's school clubs, which are a great way to connect with peers and get involved. Click Club List Description for a list of clubs available at Langley. Interested in starting your own? Click here to find out how to start a new club.
Langley encourages all students to become involved with service to the community. It builds self-esteem, teaches empathy and fosters a sense of belonging. On Fri, Sept 30, the first Saxon Service, organized by the PTSA Family Network Committee, will be held in the Cafeteria. Students can choose to spend part of their Langley Links time working on a variety of activities ranging from writing letters for active-duty military to ironing decorative pillowcases for children with cancer to crafting blankets for shelters.
If your student is interested in sports, winter and spring seasons are coming up. Learn more about participation in Athletics at Langley. It is also a lot of fun to go and be a spectator. I highly recommend attending games and cheering on your fellow Saxons! Be sure to read the article below about the upcoming tailgate hosted by the PTSA.
Whatever it is, I hope your student will find an activity that connects them with their community and brings them joy!
~ Jamie H. Loving, PTSA President

Help landscape the last of Langley's three courtyards and donate a leaf for Langley's Legacy Tree!
By donating a leaf (copper $50, silver $100, gold $200) or bird or acorn ($500), you're helping to complete the courtyard renovation and "grow" the Legacy Tree – a beautiful wall sculpture across from the Main Office in Langley's Lobby.
|
|
You choose the engraved message! The Legacy Tree is a permanent, prominent record of courtyard contributors and a lasting legacy for Langley and your family. Leaves also make great tributes to teachers, friends, pets, coaches, and grads!
Thanks to the 600 generous Langley families and local organizations who've already donated a leaf, bird, or acorn.

Saxons, now is the time to consider this year's Reflections theme "Show Your Voice!" and decide which category (or categories) you would like to enter. Express who you are and why your voice matters!
Create your masterpiece in visual arts, dance choreography, film production, literature, photography, music composition or special arts. Compete at school, regional, state and national levels.

Parents, if you attended Back-to-School Night, you may have noticed some of what the Langley PTSA has done to support our students and teachers. And, if you were not able to be there in person, please take the opportunity to see for yourself next time you are at Langley. Your tour of some of the PTSA-funded highlights includes:
● The stone structuring holding up Langley’s digital sign along Georgetown Pike
● A look at the landscaping and umbrellas in the school’s interior courtyards
● Science lab equipment, including the cordless LED stereo microscope
● Chatting with performing arts teachers about the instruments
● Students writing characters in Japanese class on iPads funded by the PTSA
● Professional basketball player, Chris Herren, speaking about wellness
● Resting on the furniture in the common areas between classes
● And much, much more….
Your annual membership and donation dollars enable the PTSA to help support and enrich the student and teacher experience at Langley and to provide many items and opportunities for our school that wouldn’t otherwise be possible. Thanks for your support!
Click here to join. Not sure if you already joined? You can search your email inbox for a receipt from Langley PTSA with the subject line “Thanks for Joining!” or email ptsalangleymembership@gmail.com to check-in.
