Breaking Glass This Thursday

It's almost time for the next Breaking Glass session featuring Congresswoman Ashley Hinson! The event is from 10:30AM-Noon on Thursday, February 8 in the Anderson Event Room at the Commerce Center.


An Iowa native, Ashley is an award-winning journalist and a proud wife and mother of two. In Congress, she continues to be a common-sense leader and pursue pro-growth policies. She has introduced and supported bipartisan legislation to improve child care access for working families in Iowa and creates opportunities for workers in the community. As a mother, she also has a keen interest in protecting the safety and security of Iowa families.


Tickets are $10 for members and $20 for non-members.

Building CommUNITY - Psychological Safety in the Workplace

Speaker Molly Mackey will be discussing psychological safety in the workplace during this month's Building CommUNITY session from

1-2:15PM next Monday, February 12 at the Commerce Center.


Mackey, founder of the LEAdeRNship Institute, will cover what psychological safety is, how it impacts teams, and how you can implement strategies to nurture a culture where everyone feels safe to speak up, disagree openly, and raise concerns without fear of repercussions.

Vietnam Info Webinar - February 15

Thinking about traveling with the Chamber to  Vietnam this fall? Be sure to tune into this virtual informational session from Noon-1PM on Thursday, February 15. The webinar will review the incredible itinerary packed with fascinating culture and history. Following the presentation, participants are encouraged to ask questions about the trip.


The session will be offered free as an online webinar. Participants must register to receive the connection link for the session (each participant will need their own link to enter).

North Iowa Civics Bee 2024

Attention parents of middle schoolers! There is still time to register your child into the North Iowa Civics Bee if they're looking to bring positive change into the community.


Students in grades 6-8 can qualify for the live bee by submitting a short essay that identifies an issue in the community and details how the student would use civics principles to address it. The top three students move on to the Iowa Civics Bee, and this year the winner at the state level moves on to the National Civics Bee in Washington, DC!


The deadline to enter is Monday, February 19. This event is a partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

Chamber Trivia Night

The Chamber's newest event, Chamber Trivia Night, is sure to be a night of brain-busting, good fun! This event is scheduled from 4-8PM on February 29 at The Music Man Square.

 

Teams of six will test their knowledge of randomized trivia in a multi-round format. Themes will include music, literature, geography, history, and more! Between rounds, players will be able to win giveaways, enjoy food and drinks, and network with other teams.


Registration is $200 for a team of 6. Se sure to sign up now and prepare to bring home the gold!

City Conversations

Starting this month, the Chamber is hosting regular 1:1 meetings with leadership from the City of Mason City, called “City Conversations”. This is an opportunity for any Chamber member to schedule a 15-minute (or more, if necessary) meeting with Chamber President Colleen Frein and City Administrator Aaron Burnett to discuss issues facing your business or questions you have about city policies. This month’s City Conversations is set for 8:30-10:30AM on Tuesday, February 13. If you’d like to reserve a time slot, or need more information, email Colleen. This is just one more way we are advocating for our members!

  • KCMR Radio will be taking kindness to the streets on Saturday, February 17 for National Random Acts of Kindness Day! Businesses are invited to join them by giving away gift cards or donating gift cards to KCMR Radio.
