WVNCC CARES Teams Promotes Campus Safety & Security
WVNCC is committed to a safe and nonviolent campus environment and does not tolerate acts or threats of violence.
In line with these ideals, WVNCC has created a CARES team. The CARES team identifies observable behaviors or circumstances that indicate that someone needs assistance, is at risk of disrupting the educational environment, or may pose a risk of violence.
The CARES teams relies on active participation of our campus community in recognizing and reporting concerning or threatening behavior or other indicators that a person may be on the pathway to violence.
To reach the CARES team you can speak with any faculty, staff, or administrator.
You can also reach out directly to Campus Liaison Officer Ronald Faldowski at 304-650-9994, rfaldowski@wvncc.edu or visit his office in the first floor lobby of the B&O Building, Wheeling Campus.

Limit the Stress of Completing Your Taxes
The 2024 tax season is upon us. Many procrastinate until April 15th (the official tax filing deadline) and often feel overwhelmed & stressed during this annual exercise.
For most students, the last thing they want on their plates is to be consumed with worry over filing their taxes on time and appropriately.
Here are eight tips to get organized and focused:
-
Stop procrastinating. The longer you wait, the more difficult it will be to get started, and the easier it is to quit.
-
Create a calendar. Mark important dates and deadlines down.
-
Set realistic goals. Your financial goals should be manageable, not burdensome.
-
Start gathering your receipts in one place. Organizing your documents by date and type will make calculating your information much easier.
- Consult with an accountant if necessary.
- Use tax preparation software.
-
File early. Beating the crowd will help you receive any potential refunds sooner, rather than later.
-
Manage your stress. Managing stress will help you to think more clearly, make better decisions and feel more confident preparing your paperwork and filing.
