AAPI Heritage Month is about paying tribute to the generations of Asian and Pacific Islanders who have enriched America's history and are instrumental in its future success. The effort to officially recognize Asian American and Pacific Islander contributions to the United States began in the late 1970s and took over 10 years to make it a permanent month-long celebration. Learn more about the origins of AAPI Heritage Month and the 2024 theme of "Advancing Leaders Through Innovation" at history.com.
