We welcome Curtis to the studio for a week of classes for teens and adults and a choreographic residency with Portland Youth Dance!

Curtis Thomas, a native of New Orleans, began his dance training with the New Orleans Ballet Association’s Center for Dance. He has also trained at the Alonzo King LINES Ballet BFA program and received his degree in dance from The Boston Conservatory. Currently a dancer with David Dorfman Dance, he has also worked with New Dialect, TU Dance, Marigny Opera House Dance Company, and Narcisse Movement Project, amongst others. He most recently was on the 2nd National Tour of Waitress The Musical, where he also worked as the assistant choreographer for the show. Curtis is also a proud member of the JUNTOS Collective, an organization committed to intercultural exchange and global unity through dance.


In addition to teaching in the teen program, Curtis will teach the following drop-in classes, which are open to all teens and adults! Pre-registration is not necessary. $18 or a card punch

Faculty News

Allie James was selected to present "Igniting Supportive and Embodied Practice Through Empathy and New-Found Rigor" with Tristan Koepke at the annual National Dance Educators Conference in Atlanta on Monday.

Elizabeth Lau completed the Core Muscle Anatomy Training with the Kane School/Scarborough Pilates in October.

Vanessa Beyland choreographed the musical "Nine" for the University of Southern Maine, which premiered this past weekend.

Hannah Wasielewski recently returned from Austin, TX, where she participated in a creative residency with Deborah Hay. 

Kristin Sutton presented the 10th annual Thriller Throwdown in Monument Square on October 28 and received rave reviews! Portland Youth Dance Crew & PYD2 joined in on the fun!

Kate Marchessault completed her Pilates mat certification with Kane School/Scarborough Pilates in October.

Alycia Miner attended the Boston Tap Party Festival in August, where she studied with professionals across the country. She auditioned for the invitation-only Advanced Tap Repertory, which performed in the faculty showcase!

Wendee Rogerson is studying Pilates for neurological conditions through the Neuro Studio.

Scott McPheeters will perform with Ali Kenner Brodsky & Co at Space Gallery on Saturday, November 19, at 7:30 pm.

Rose Hutchins welcomed a baby boy into her family in July. Congratulations, Rose and Andrew!

Kate Whalen will perform in White Christmas at the Schoolhouse Arts Center from December 1 through the 11th. PYD dancer VC Franklin is also performing in the show!
Family Ballroom Dance Workshop Saturday, Nov 19, 2-3 pm |$20 for the student; caregiver attends for free!

This workshop is geared toward dancers ages seven and up with a caregiver. This is also an excellent opportunity for wedding couples to practice without the private lesson price!

to return to the
dance studio!

Enrollment is open for select classes in our children and teen programs. We offer a wide variety of classes in hip hop, jazz, ballet, modern, tap, contemporary, and more for students ages 2 & up in a welcoming and non-competitive environment.
