Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher appreciation week is coming soon (May 1st-5th), details for the week to be shared soon! This year, we will be decorating the teachers' parking spots with sidewalk chalk again like last year, but with a twist! We are holding a PTA fundraiser to help us treat our staff throughout the week and possibly earn a premium parking spot for your teacher!

Contributions will be collected by your classroom parent(s) over the next two weeks. The top three classes who raise the MOST funds for teacher appreciation week will get the chance to gift their teachers a prime parking spot with some extra special flair to be enjoyed for the week!

The fundraiser will start right away and will go until Thursday, April 20. Please reach out to your room parents for more information on how to contribute. If you have any questions, please email TAW@normanrockwellpta.org

Thank you!

TAW Team.
We Need YOU! Consider a role on Rockwell’s PTA Board!

If you or someone you know has a passion for students and the programs that help them succeed, please consider submitting a nomination for a role on Rockwell’s PTA Board. Our Rockwell PTA’s nominating committee is still looking for volunteers to serve on the 2023-24 PTA Board. As a collective Rockwell PTA community, we must vote on next year’s Board before the end of this school year which we intend to do at our next General Membership Meeting on April 27th at 7:00 pm.

All board and chair positions are open, but we have a specific request for individuals interested in our Co-Treasurer, VP of Communications, VP of Events, VP of Membership, VP of Volunteer Services, Executive VP, Webmaster, and Chairperson roles for our school events.

No experience required! All you need is an eagerness to learn and the passion and drive to support our school community to create meaningful experiences for our Rockwell students and staff. Scroll to the bottom of our homepage at www.normanrockwellpta.org to view a full list of PTA Board roles and their responsibilities.

If you would like to be part of this team or know someone who would be great, please email our nominating committee. All nominations including self-nominations for any position are welcomed. We have a fabulously dynamic, inclusive, fun and collaborative team of Moms, Dads, Grandparents, Working Parents and Work-at-Home Parents teaming up on our Board. We look forward to having you join us!

Thank you!

Please Support the Norman Rockwell Ecology Run

Every spring, the fifth-grade classes get to attend "Outdoor Education", a three-day camp, where the students receive lessons in exploring ecosystems, understanding natural resources and improving outdoor skills. The cost of this camp to our families can be a burden, so we hold this annual fundraiser to offset some of the expense. It is a one-day fun run to raise money for every fifth grader, and whatever is raised is divided evenly by the number of students to reduce the cost for every family.

  • The funds raised by ALL students will help 5th graders go to camp this year, where they learn about our northwest ecology!
  • The primary (K-2) class that raises the most money will will an extra 20-minute recess.
  • The intermediate (3-5) class that raises the most money will win an extra 20-minute recess.
  • The kindergarten through fourth grade class that raises the most money will earn a PIZZA PARTY!
  • Students will collect flat pledges prior to running laps at the Ecology Run.
  • Students who raise $25 or more will receive an Ecology Run Spirit wristband.
  • Students who raise $50 or more will receive the wristband and a 2020 Ecology Run T-Shirt.
  • Students who raise $100 or more will receive the wristband, the T-shirt, and a bonus recess with a treat.
  • All donations are eligible for corporate matching - if your company participates in a matching program, please consider matching your gift.
  • Simply note: "ASB-Outdoor Education" to designate the payment to the correct account.

The donations are all flat donations - they are not based on the number of laps that are run. We encourage every child at Rockwell to participate if possible - because eventually every child will become a fifth grader and receive these benefits for their own Outdoor Ed camp experience. In the past we have raised over $10,000 - which is an amazing help to offset the cost of the trip!

The fifth-grade teachers and students will be outside during school hours on the afternoon of Friday, April 21st to facilitate the run. All pledges need to be received by Friday, April 21st.

If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Weinmeister at mweinmeister@lwsd.org.

Thank you so much for supporting our students and participating in the Ecology Run!
