Today, two-time GRAMMY®-nominated, Emmy and BAFTA Award-winning composer Bear McCreary shares the third single from his upcoming project The Singularity. The new track, the epic, almost 11-minute-long “The End of Tomorrow,” features iconic rock guitarist Slash. It was also recently announced that Slash will be one of the many guests performing at McCreary’s live presentation of the album at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on May 12.

“This record in its entirety is incredible and that the show is going to be epic is an understatement.”

Slash

“’The End of Tomorrow’ is my homage to epic, operatic rock anthems I love, like ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and ‘November Rain.’ Slash brought his iconic sound to the song, and his solo at the song’s heart will melt your face!”

LISTEN TO “THE END OF TOMORROW” (FEAT. SLASH AND BRENDAN McCREARY)

Prior to “The End of Tomorrow,” McCreary released “Incinerator,” a song that features System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian, to high critical praise:

“The song is explosive, indeed, starting out with a blistering guitar riff before Tankian’s soaring trademark vocals take the spotlight.”

Consequence

“A track that feels gloriously massive, making us wish we'd had much more symphonic Serj in our lives for the past 20 almost-SOAD-less years.”

Louder Sound

“The aptly titled ‘Incinerator’ features System of a Down's Serj Tankian, who pulls out every trick he has in his vocal playbook. Less of a headline-maker but no less notable, the song also boasts drumming by ‘The Atomic Clock’ himself, Gene Hoglan, of Death, Testament, Dethklok and more of your favorite bands.

The result? Fire.”

“I began writing The Singularity when I was fifteen,” says McCreary. “I was obsessed, even then, with melding my love of hard rock, symphonic film scores, and dramatic storytelling into a cohesive whole, laying the groundwork for what would become a concept album, graphic novel, and multimedia concert experience. I spent the next three decades trying to perfect it.”

The Singularity sees McCreary creating a unique hard-rock adventure bursting with cinematic energy from use of live orchestra, choir, and international colors including bagpipes, morin khuur, and nyckelharpa. In addition to Slash, McCreary is joined by a truly extraordinary cast of musicians and vocalists that includes Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Corey Taylor (Slipknot), Rufus WainwrightJens Kidman (Meshuggah), Joe SatrianiBuck Dharma (Blue Öyster Cult), Asdru Sierra (Ozomatli), Gaelic rapper and poet GriogairKim Thayil (Soundgarden), Scott Ian (Anthrax), Brendon Small (Metalocalypse), Billy Boyd (The Lord of the Rings), Eivør (God of War)Guthrie Govan and Bryan Beller (The Aristocrats), Mike Keneally (Frank Zappa), Ben Weinman (The Dillinger Escape Plan), Steve Bartek and John Avila (Oingo Boingo), Warren Fitzgerald (The Vandals), Esjay Jones (We Are PIGS), Sigurjón Kjartansson (HAM), Raya Yarbrough (Outlander), rapper Mega Ran, and legendary metal drummer Gene Hoglan (Strapping Young Lad, Dethklok). The Singularity was co-written and co-produced by McCreary’s brother, Brendan McCreary, who also contributes lead vocals to eight songs, including “The End of Tomorrow.” The accompanying story is revealed in three spoken-word monologues lifted directly from the graphic novel, performed on the album by celebrated actors Lee Pace (FoundationThe Hobbit), Danai Gurira (Black PantherThe Walking Dead), and Ryan Hurst (Sons of AnarchyGod of War Ragnarök).
