Tiny Art in the Library!

The Nevins Library is planning a “Tiny Art” Show in the Library, opening Tuesday, February 20 and closing Friday, March 1

We've had such a great demand for these fun kits. Don't forget to return your art, with the entry form, to the Main Desk by February 16 to be included in the show and be eligible for prizes.

Did we just say prizes? Yes! There will be a small prize for each of the four age categories: 0-5 years, 6-12 years, 13-19 years old and adults.

Then one additional prize for “Nevins Staff Favorite” and “Patron Favorite”. We can’t wait to see the art you create!

Special Programs in February!

As we head into February and have an early release day and a school vacation coming up, we’ll offer some special programs to keep your kids busy.

On February 16 (the early-release day), kids aged 8 and up can join us for our video game free-play event, hosted by Massachusetts eSport and gaming venue, One Up Games; players can explore virtual worlds with the Oculus Quest, or play the latest titles on Xbox Series S, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch!

During the school vacation we’ll have a Silent Disco event on February 21 – at this dance party, participants get to pick what music to listen to and, using wireless headphones, choose between two DJs and dance the night away! (Headphones that allow you to switch between the two DJs will be provided.) Kids and adults had a blast at this event when we held it last summer – don’t miss out!

Last but not least, this month we’ll also have pictures of rubber duckies hidden throughout the Children’s Room – bring your kids in to enjoy this silly scavenger hunt, just for fun!

As ever, we’ll also have our usual variety of preschool programs, storytimes (including a bilingual program), book groups, teen programs, and more – keep an eye on the Youth Services Department calendar and Facebook page to keep track of what’s in store!

Happy February, and Happy Reading!
