All Glass Windows took out the broken stained glass windows and put in the new hurricane windows. They also repaired some leaky windows in the Narthex - restoration is moving right along.

Church Parking Lot Update

You may have noticed access to the parking lot between the church and Village on the Isle (VOTI) was blocked during the past week. This is a part of VOTI’s ongoing effort this summer to relocate their employees' vehicles to an alternative lot so that church parking can be made more available to members throughout the week.

If you need access to parking, please tell the VOTI parking staff member (on duty between 6 and 10 AM) that you are with the church and require parking. VOTI and Emmanuel are continuing to take steps in working together to make our parking arrangement effective for our two organizations. If you have questions please reach out to Peter Doherty, Emmanuel Facilities Manager at pdoherty@emmanuel-elca.org.

Note: You can also get into the parking lot directly from the driveway on Tamiami Trail.

Please help the office...

If you are attending worship, please "register" on Flocknote by texting EMMANUEL to 84576. This will send you a weekly text to sign in for worship which helps us know you are here and helps with year end reporting. If you have any questions, please contact Becky or Debi in the office.

Linda Critchfield - Deacon in Training

Linda Critchfield has begun the process of becoming a Parish Deacon. Her training will be completed in several months. She just attended a retreat in Lakeland and is attending Pastor Will's classes.

Barb's Medical Minute

I’m pretty sure all of us have had heartburn at some point. This acid reflux happens when the valve connecting the esophagus to the stomach opens when it’s not supposed to, allowing acid or food back into your esophagus.  To help prevent this try high fiber foods to help you from eating too much like beets, broccoli, brown rice, oatmeal, or sweet potatoes. I’m OK with the last two. Or keep to foods that are alkaline which help buffer that stomach acid like bananas, cauliflower, ginger, melons and nuts.

Lastly, eat watery foods that can dilute stomach acid along with drinking non-carbonated water. Some of these are celery, cucumber, herbal tea, lettuce, and watermelon. Be mindful of citrus fruits, fried foods, tomatoes, carbonated beverages, peppermint, coffee, and chocolate, which may cause acid reflux. Why is all the good stuff always on the naughty list??

Please keep the following people in your prayers:

  • Diane Hartman
  • Curtis Savenko
