This is National Volunteer Week and I want to express gratitude for everyone who gives of their time, talents, and energy to keep Erin Mills United such a vibrant community. We really couldn’t do it without them. We were asked to put together numbers for the hours of volunteer work done in the church last year and the number was amazing, but not really surprising – we accounted for over 6,000 hours of volunteer work. From those who sit on our Leadership Circle, to our tech team, committees, pastoral care visitors, choir, Loaves and Dishes, and many others, the church just wouldn’t be able to function if it weren’t for all of our volunteers.
In John’s first letter to the church he reminds us:
“Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.”
Love is a verb, an action word. It doesn’t have meaning unless it is expressed in the ways we treat each other. The actions of our volunteers express love for the church and love for our neighbours and they make all the difference in the world.
Blessings, Kathi
