PSCF 2023-2024 SEASON REVIEW 


On behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to thank everyone—residents, volunteers, corporate sponsors and Pelican Sound staff members—for helping to make 2023-2024 a very successful season of charitable giving. Grants were awarded to local organizations serving people in need: families, children, the homeless, the handicapped, trafficked young women, teen mothers, veterans, and families of those with dementia or other health needs.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE SEASON 

 

  • Distributed $145,000 (a 16% increase) to 12 local charities with a five-year total of $525,000 
  • Increased resident donations by nearly 16% for a total of $73,646 
  • Organized the Spooktacular Golf Event 
  • Raffled a one-year PSGRC Assessment netting almost $22,000 
  • Sponsored the Volunteer Fair featuring 26 local charities with excellent participation by our residents 
  • Hosted a very well-attended Casino Night 
  • Invited several of our charities to present Sound Learnings programs 
  • Endorsed the Laces of Love shoe collection project resulting in the donation of 500 pairs of shoes for children 
  • Supported the Cafe of Life Diaper Drive with over 35,000 diapers collected 
  • Added Charity Highlights and Donor Testimonials to our weekly Foundation Flash 
  • Continued positive, on-going relationships with our vendors resulting in their commitment to future charitable giving 

 

In our first 5 years, the Pelican Sound Charitable Foundation has given over $525,000 in grant awards to local non-profit organizations serving our neighbors in need.

A.N.A.'s Friends

(formerly Guardian ad Litem)

The CHILDREN'S NEEDS PROGRAM provides funding to meet the needs of those who have been removed from their homes due to neglect, abuse, or abandonment.

American Heart Association of SWFL

LEADERS FOR A RESILIENT GENERATION PROGRAM for children in grades K-5 in Lee and Collier counties in high poverty elementary schools.

Cafe of Life

The ongoing OUTREACH PROGRAM provides food, diapers, and hygiene items to those in need. Supports 30-45 families each week during the summer months.

The Dubin Center

DEMENTIA CAREGIVER SUPPORT and EDUCATION PROGRAM provides training for caregivers and persons living with a dementia-related diagnosis.

Feeding the 5000

(Lamb of God Church)

THANKSGIVING OUTREACH PROGRAM serves families in need with nutritional food during the Thanksgiving holidays.

Habitat for Humanity

AFFORDABLE HOME OWNERSHIP PROGRAM: Building supplies for kitchen and bath cabinets for 5-7 new homes.

Hearts & Homes for Veterans

EMERGENCY SERVICES: Temporary housing including rent assistance, utilities, food and transportation needs.

Interfaith Charities of South Lee

THANKSGIVING OUTREACH PROGRAM: Prior to Thanksgiving approximately 420 households receive a Thanksgiving themed food package.

Laces of Love

SHOES FOR CHILDREN: Laces of Love will purchase approximately 266 pairs of new sneakers and sports shoes for children in need in Collier and Lee counties.

New Horizons of SWFL

SUPER KIDS READING CAMP (SKRC) will serve 189 children from Lee and Collier counties in the summer of 2024.

Our Mother's Home

MENTORED LIVING PROGRAM: Teen mothers learn skills to care for their child; receive advice, assistance, care, knowledge, education, and learn life skills.

Protected Harbor, Inc.

DAY SERVICES FOR HANDICAPPED ADULTS: Programs include social communication and community safety; community exploration, fitness and art.
