ԱՊՐԻԼ 24-Ի ՍՈՒՐԲ ՊԱՏԱՐԱԳԸ ՀՐԱՒԷՐ ԲԻՒՐԱՒՈՐ ՍՈՒՐԲ ՆԱՀԱՏԱԿՆԵՐՈՒ ՀԵՏ ՀԱՂՈՐԴՈՒԹԵԱՆ, ԿԵՆՍՈՒՆԱԿՈՒԹԵԱՆ ԵՒ ՅԱՐՈՒԹԵԱՆ

Սիրելի՛ հայորդիներ,

Ահաւասիկ 109 տարիներ անցան այն թուականէն, երբ մեր բիւրաւոր սուրբ նահատակները «իմացեալ մահ»ով սպաննուեցան քրիստոնէական հաւատքի ու հայրենիքի պաշտպանութեան ի խնդիր:

Ապրիլ 24-ը մեր նահատակներուն տօնն է եւ հրաւէր իւրաքանչիւրիս Սուրբ Պատարագի ճամբով անքակտելի ու դարաւոր մեր հաւատքի ուխտը եւ հայրենիքի հանդէպ մեր անվերապահ սէրը վերանորոգելու:

Այսօր, ամէն տեղ, թէ Հայաստանի եւ թէ Սփիւռքի մէջ կ՛ապրինք այն խոր հաւատքով եւ համոզումով, որ մեր ազգային գոյատեւման գրաւականը կեանքի եւ յարութեան վկայութիւնն է: Այս է հայադրոշմ քրիստոնէական կեանքի ու յարութեան ըմբռնումը, որ մեզ լեցուն եւ «առաւել կեանքին»ին եւ այդ կեանքի տուուիչին՝ Քրիստոսին կը միացնէ:

Այսօր, երբ դարձեալ կը դիմագրաւենք նոր մարտահրաւէրներ եւ հայօրէն տոկալու յանձնառութեամբ կը շարունակենք մեր հաւատքն ու հայրենիքը պահել, ապրիլեան սուրբ նահատակներուն պատգամն է մեզմէ իւրաքանչիւրին հաւաքական մեր կեանքը առաջնորդել Սուրբ Պատարագով, աղօթքի սրբակեցութեամբ, խոկումով եւ ինքնաքննութեամբ: Ապրիլ 24-ի երեկոյեան մեր հարազատ ազգի զաւակները Սուրբ Պատարագի կը հրաւիրենք, ըմբոշխնելու ապրիլեան նահատակաց սրբութեան խորհուրդը, որ օրհնեալ եւ եզակի առիթ է գիտակցելու, թէ սուրբերու փաղանգ մը ունինք երկնքի մէջ եւ հրաւիրուած ենք սրբութեան կեանք ապրիլ եւ պահել հաւատքն մեր դարաւոր ու հայրենիքը հզօր:

Այսու հաղորդագրութեամբ կու գանք յայտարարելու, թէ Չորեքշաբթի Ապրիլ 24-ին Սուրբ եւ անմահ Պատարագ եւ Բարեխօսական Կարգ պիտի կատարուի Ամերիկայի Միացեալ Նահանգներու Արեւմտեան Թեմի Պըրպէնքի Սրբոց Ղեւոնդեանց Մայր Տաճարին մէջ: Մեր բոլորին հաւաքական մասնակցութիւնը Սուրբ Պատարագին շօշափելի արտայայտութիւնը պիտի դառնայ երկնաւոր մեր Տիրոջ եւ բիւրաւոր մեր սուրբ նահատակներու հետ մեր հաղորդութեան, մեր ժողովուրդի կենսունակութեան եւ յաւերժութեան, աղօթքի ճամբով ճշդելու մեր ներկան եւ լուսապայծառ ապագան:

Արդ, եկէք ապրիլեան նահատակներու բարեխօսութեամբ մեր դատին արդար լուծումը վստահինք Աստուծոյ, մեր կեանքին մէջ առաջնահերթ դարձնելով քրիստոնէական ու ազգակերտ արժէքներու հետապնդման հաւատարմութիւնը, սուրբերու բարեխօսութեամբ գօտեպնդուած եւ հայութեան յարութեան տեսլականով առաջնորդուած:

A Night to Ignite Change: Honoring the Akian Family

The American University of Armenia (AUA) is pleased to announce an upcoming event, A Night to Ignite Change: Honoring the Akian Family. Hosted by AUA supporters Vahe and Ruzan Kuzoyan, the event will benefit the University as it continues to expand, while also recognizing the Akian family’s generous contributions to AUA over many decades, highlighting the transformative power of change and the family’s impact on higher education in Armenia.

Taking place on Saturday, May 18, 2024, the function will be held at the beautiful Kuzoyan residence, which will serve as a fitting backdrop for a night of elegance, impact, and celebration. The event will feature two alumni emcees, Anna Bakunts (MBA ’11) and Hayk Mamajanyan (LLM ’12), and several esteemed guest speakers, each recognized as AUA Changemakers for their remarkable contributions to their respective fields: Sharon Anoush Chekijian, M.D., MPH, Yale University School of Medicine; Vahan Janjigian, Ph.D., chief investment officer, Greenwich Wealth Management, LLC; Christine Soussa, global client director, Equinix; and Lilit Yenokyan, director of engineering, Roku. The evening’s musical performances will include notable Armenian artists Vardan Ovsepian and Christine Pepelyan.

Dear parishioners,

Today, as we gather together to celebrate Green Sunday, let's explore its deep meanings and why it's special. Green Sunday marks the beginning of a time when we think about renewal and fresh starts, just like how nature comes alive again in spring. It's about having a strong and lively faith in Christ, renewed every day through prayer, reflecting on God's word, and finding strength in it.

Holy Easter starts a fifty-day period called Hinoonk. During this time, we focus on the joy of Jesus rising from the dead, showing us that life conquers death. Each Sunday during Hinoonk is important, guiding us on our journey of faith and helping us grow closer to God. 

The idea of Green Sunday comes from ancient times when people celebrated the return of life in spring after the cold of winter. They decorated with greenery to thank God for making everything grow again. This connects with our Christian faith because Jesus' resurrection gives us hope for new beginnings.

Jerusalem is important in the story of Green Sunday. It's where Jesus met with His Apostles before He went to heaven. There, He gave them His final teachings and the Holy Spirit. This moment was the start of the Christian church, united by faith, love, and the promise of life forever with God.

Green Sunday isn't only about remembering old traditions. It's also a reminder for us to take care of the world God gave us. Saint Basil the Great said, "The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it." Saint Mesrop Mashtots, who created the Armenian alphabet, once said, "Nature is where God shows His greatest work." This means we can see God's beauty in the world around us, reminding us of His love for us.

Saint Gregory of Narek said, "Let's take care of the earth, growing love and kindness." This tells us it's our job to look after the world and to be kind to each other.

This Green Sunday, let's promise to take better care of the earth and live, in a way that respects all living things. May our love and care for creation show our love for God, and may the hope of Green Sunday fill our hearts with joy and renewal. Let's take this hope out into the world, spreading love and protecting the beauty of nature. Amen.

ԱՒԵՏԱՐԱՆ ԸՍՏ ՅՈՎՀԱՆՆՈՒ 5.19-30

Յիսուս ըսաւ անոնց.

– Հաստատ գիտցէք, թէ Մարդու Որդին ինք իրմէ ոչինչ կը կատարէ, այլ կը կատարէ միայն այն՝ ինչոր կը տեսնէ թէ Հայրը կը կատարէ: Որովհետեւ ինչ որ Հայրը կը գործէ, Որդին ալ նոյնը կը գործէ:Հայրը կը սիրէ Որդին եւ անոր ցոյց կու տայ ինչ որ ինք կը կատարէ: Տակաւին ձեր տեսածներէնաւելի սքանչելի գործեր ալ ցոյց պիտի տայ Որդիին, այնպէս որ դուք պիտի զարմանաք: Ինչպէս որՀայրը մեռելները կը յարուցանէ եւ կեանք կու տայ անոնց, նոյնպէս ալ Որդին կեանք կու տայ իրուզածներուն: Եւ Հայրը ոեւէ մէկը չի դատեր, այլ դատելու իշխանութիւնը ամբողջութեամբ յանձնած էՈրդիին, որպէսզի բոլորն ալ պատուեն Որդին, ինչպէս որ Հայրը կը պատուեն: Ան որ չի պատուերՈրդին, չի պատուեր Հայրը որ զայն ղրկած է:

Լաւ գիտցէք, ով որ իմ խօսքերս կը լսէ եւ կը հաւատայ անոր՝ որ զիս ղրկեց, յաւիտենական կեանքունի եւ պիտի չդատապարտուի, որովհետեւ արդէն իսկ մահէն կեանքի անցած է: Հաստա՛տ գիտցէք,ժամանակ կու գայ եւ արդէն իսկ եկած է, երբ մեռելները Աստուծոյ Որդիին ձայնը պիտի լսեն եւլսողները պիտի ապրին: Որովհետեւ, ինչպէս որ Հայրը կեանք պարգեւելու զօրութիւնը ունի իր մէջ,այդ զօրութիւնը տուած է նաեւ Որդիին: Նոյնպէս ալ դատելու իշխանութիւնը տուաւ Որդիին,որովհետեւ անիկա Մարդու Որդին է: Ուրեմն մի՛ զարմանաք որ ըսի, թէ ահա կու գայ ժամանակը, երբբոլոր անոնք որոնք գերեզմաններու մէջ են՝ պիտի լսեն անոր ձայնը եւ դուրս գան. անոնք որ բարիքգործած են՝ յարութիւն պիտի առնեն եւ ապրին, իսկ անոնք որ չարիք գործած են՝ յարութիւն պիտիառնեն եւ դատապարտուին: Ես ինձմէ չեմ կրնար դատել, այլ կը դատեմ այնպէս՝ ինչպէս Հօրմէս կըլսեմ. եւ ուրեմն իմ դատաստանս արդար է, որովհետեւ կը գործադրեմ ո՛չ թէ իմ կամքս, այլ կամքըանոր՝ որ զիս ղրկեց:

ԱՌԱՔԵԱԼՆԵՐՈՒ ԳՈՐԾԵՐԸ 13.16-43



Պօղոս ոտքի ելաւ, ձեռքով նշան ըրաւ որպէսզի լռեն, եւ ըսաւ.

– Ո՜վ Իսրայէլացիներ եւ աստուածավախ մարդիկ, մտի՛կ ըրէք: Այս ժողովուրդին՝ ԻսրայէլիԱստուածը, ընտրեց մեր հայրերը, բարձրացուց մեր ժողովուրդը՝ որ Եգիպտոսի մէջ որպէսպանդուխտ կ’ապրէր, եւ իր մեծ զօրութեամբ զանոնք հոնկէ հանեց: Շուրջ քառասուն տարիանապատին մէջ կերակրեց զանոնք: Ապա Քանաան երկրի բնակիչ եօթը ազգերը պարտութեանմատնելով՝ անոնց երկիրը մեր ժողովուրդին տուաւ որպէս ժառանգութիւն: Այս բոլորը եղանմօտաւորապէս չորս հարիւր յիսուն տարիներու ընթացքին: Այնուհետեւ դատաւորներ տուաւ անոնց,մինչեւ Սամուէլ մարգարէի ժամանակը, երբ մեր ժողովուրդը թագաւոր ուզեց, եւ Աստուած թագաւորկարգեց Սաւուղը, Կիսի որդին, որ Բենիամինի ցեղէն էր, քառասուն տարուան համար: Սաւուղէն ետքանոնց վրայ թագաւոր կարգեց Դաւիթը, որուն մասին նաեւ վկայեց, ըսելով.

«Դաւիթը, Յեսսէի որդին,

սրտիս խօսող անձն է,

որ ամբողջութեամբ իմ կամքս պիտի կատարէ»:

Անոր սերունդէն էր որ Աստուած Իսրայէլի տուաւ իր խոստացած Փրկիչը՝ Յիսուսը: Բայց նախքանանոր հրապարակ գալը, Յովհաննէս Իսրայէլի ամբողջ ժողովուրդին կը քարոզէր որ ապաշխարեն եւմկրտուին: Եւ իր պաշտօնը լրացնելու ժամանակ, Յովհաննէս ըսաւ. «Ո՞վ կը կարծէք զիս: Ես ձերսպասած անձը չեմ: Ահա ինձմէ ետք կու գայ անիկա, որուն կօշիկները հանելու իսկ արժանի չեմ ես»:

Եղբայրնե՛ր, Աբրահամեան տոհմի զաւակներ եւ ձեր մէջ գտնուող աստուածավա՛խ մարդիկ.փրկութեան այս պատգամը Աստուած ձեզի՛ ղրկեց: Որովհետեւ Երուսաղէմի բնակիչները եւ իրենցիշխանները չճանչցան Յիսուսը, եւ զայն դատապարտելով՝ կատարած եղան խօսքըմարգարէներուն, որ ամէն Շաբաթ օր կը կարդային: Եւ թէպէտ մահուան արժանի յանցանք մըչգտան անոր վրայ, սակայն Պիղատոսէն պահանջեցին որ սպաննուի: Երբ անոր մասին բոլորգրուածները կատարած եղան, զայն խաչէն իջեցուցին եւ գերեզման դրին: Բայց Աստուած զայնմեռելներէն յարուցանեց, եւ Յիսուս բազմաթիւ օրեր երեւցաւ անոնց՝ որոնք իրեն հետ ԳալիլեայէնԵրուսաղէմ եկած էին, եւ որոնք հիմա իր վկաներն են ժողովուրդին առջեւ: Մենք ալ, ահա, ձեզիկ’աւետենք, թէ Աստուած մեր հայրերուն տուած իր խոստումը կատարեց մեր օրերուն, որ անոնցորդիներն ենք: Այդ խոստումը կատարեց՝ Յիսուսը յարուցանելով, ինչպէս երկրորդ սաղմոսին մէջ ալգրուած է. «Իմ որդիս ես դուն, այսօր քեզ ծնայ»: Նոյն այն իրողութիւնը, որ Աստուած զայն մեռելներէնյարուցանեց եւ անիկա այլեւս բնաւ մահ պիտի չտեսնէ, խոստում մըն է՝ մեզի ուղղուած, որովհետեւԱստուած այսպէս կ’ըսէ. «Ձեզի պիտի տամ այն իսկական եւ սուրբ օրհնութիւնը, որ Դաւիթի խոստացայ», եւ ինչպէս ուրիշսաղմոսի մը մէջ Սաղմոսագիրը կ’ըսէ. «Պիտի չթողուս որ քու ծառայիդ մարմինը փտութիւն տեսնէ»:Արդ, Դաւիթ իր սերունդին մէջ Աստուծոյ ծառայելէ ետք մեռաւ եւ իր հայրերուն քով թաղուեցաւ, եւ իրմարմինը փտեցաւ: Բայց Աստուած յարուցանեց Յիսուսը, որուն մարմինը փտութիւն չտեսաւ: Ուստիիմացէ՛ք, եղբայրնե՛ր, Յիսուսի միջոցաւ մեղքերու թողութիւն կը քարոզուի ձեզի: Ով որ անոր կըհաւատայ՝ կ’արդարանայ իր բոլոր մեղքերէն, որոնցմէ չկրցաք արդարանալ Մովսէսի Օրէնքինմիջոցաւ: Զգոյշ եղէք ուրեմն, որ ձեր վրայ չգայ այն՝ ինչ որ մարգարէները կ’ըսեն.-

«Տեսէ՛ք, ո՛վ արհամարհողներ,

զարմացէք եւ կորսուեցէք.

որովհետեւ ձեր օրերուն

այնպիսի գործ մը պիտի ընեմ,

որուն պիտի չհաւատաք,

նոյնիսկ երբ մէկը պատմէ ձեզի»:

Երբ Բառնաբաս ու Պօղոս ժողովարանէն դուրս ելան, մարդիկ կ’աղաչէին որ միւս Շաբաթ օր եւս նոյննիւթին մասին խօսին: Ժողովուրդին ցրուելէն ետք, բազմաթիւ Հրեաներ եւ հրէութեան դարձածբարեպաշտ օտարազգիներ հետեւեցան Պօղոսի եւ Բառնաբասի, որոնք անոնց հետ խօսեցան եւ համոզեցին զանոնք, որ շարունակեն Աստուծոյ շնորհքին մէջ մնալ:

SUNDAY, APRIL 21, 2024

John 5:19-30 

Jesus said to them, “Very truly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing on his own, but only what he sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, the Son does likewise. The Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing; and he will show him greater works than these, so that you will be astonished. Indeed, just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whomever he wishes. The Father judges no one but has given all judgment to the Son, so that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. Very truly, I tell you, anyone who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and does not come under judgment, but has passed from death to life.  

“Very truly, I tell you, the hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. For just as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself; and he has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man. Do not be astonished at this; for the hour is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and will come out—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.  

“I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge; and my judgment is just, because I seek to do not my own will but the will of him who sent me.” 

Acts 13:16-43 

So Paul stood up and with a gesture began to speak:  

“You Israelites, and others who fear God, listen. The God of this people Israel chose our ancestors and made the people great during their stay in the land of Egypt, and with uplifted arm he led them out of it. For about forty years he put up with them in the wilderness. After he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave them their land as an inheritance for about four hundred fifty years. After that he gave them judges until the time of the prophet Samuel. Then they asked for a king; and God gave them Saul son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, who reigned for forty years. When he had removed him, he made David their king. In his testimony about him he said, “I have found David, son of Jesse, to be a man after my heart, who will carry out all my wishes. Of this man’s posterity God has brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus, as he promised; before his coming John had already proclaimed a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel. And as John was finishing his work, he said, ‘What do you suppose that I am? I am not he. No, but one is coming after me; I am not worthy to untie the thong of the sandals on his feet.’  

“My brothers, you descendants of Abraham’s family, and others who fear God, to us the message of this salvation has been sent. Because the residents of Jerusalem and their leaders did not recognize him or understand the words of the prophets that are read every Sabbath, they fulfilled those words by condemning him. Even though they found no cause for a sentence of death, they asked Pilate to have him killed. When they had carried out everything that was written about him, they took him down from the tree and laid him in a tomb. But God raised him from the dead; and for many days he appeared to those who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, and they are now his witnesses to the people. And we bring you the good news that what God promised to our ancestors he has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising Jesus; as also it is written in the second psalm. ‘You are my Son; today I have begotten you.’ As to his raising him from the dead, no more to return to corruption, he has spoken in this way, ‘I will give you the holy promises made to David.’ Therefore he has also said in another psalm, ‘You will not let your Holy One experience corruption.’ For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, died, was laid beside his ancestors, and experienced corruption; but he whom God raised up experienced no corruption. Let it be known to you therefore, my brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you; by this Jesus everyone who believes is set free from all those sins from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses. Beware, therefore, that what the prophets said does not happen to you: ‘Look, you scoffers! Be amazed and perish, for in you days I am doing a work, a work that you will never believe, even if someone tells you.’”  

As Paul and Barnabas were going out, the people urged them to speak about these things again the next Sabbath. When the meeting of the synagogue broke up, many Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who spoke to them and urged them to continue in the grace of God.
