Dear Crusader Community,

This morning, in elementary chapel, Mr. Dowdle, Mr. G, and I introduced the Spring 2024 edition of the Red Letter Challenge. We had a lot of fun in chapel doing the introduction but my most earnest prayer is that the fun of chapel will pale when compared to the fun adventure that awaits a young person--and their whole family--who looks to take on the adventure of God's word on a daily basis!

Below is all the information we discussed in chapel. Would you consider encouraging your student to join us in this adventure? Would you consider joining them in the adventure as well?

One of our favorite Northwest Christian School traditions is the

RED LETTER CHALLENGE.

As part of this tradition, you and your student are invited to establish the discipline of daily time in God’s Word as you follow a simple Bible reading guide...and begin to enjoy the adventure of a lifetime!

Following this schedule, you will be joining Mr. Brown,

Mr. Dowdle, Mr. G, and many other Crusaders as we

read through the four Gospels together!

Imagine many members of our school family all

simultaneously experiencing the same powerful

truths from Jesus Himself on a daily basis!

To be sure, reading God’s word daily is its own reward but as we first seek to establish this discipline in young lives, it can be fun to establish incentives as extrinsic reminders of those intrinsic rewards. Towards that end, every elementary student that turns in an up-to-date Red Letter reading form to their teacher by Monday, April 22nd will have the opportunity to enjoy a free neon-glow evening of rock climbing. (Date TBA.) And, those students will be entered into a drawing for one of eight remote control off-road stunt cars and one of ten spots on an off-road Jeep trip with members of Northwest Christian High School’s outdoor adventure club, the Adventure Cru! (Check out their most recent 4x4 Jeep outing right here!)

Starting on Wednesday, January 24th, 2024 with Mark 1--the very first gospel to be written, possibly during the life of Christ--we will be reading one chapter per day, ending on Sunday, April 21st with Matthew 28--the passage wherein Jesus commissions us to be world-changers!

Each Monday throughout the entire adventure, you can tune in to the school's podcast, Kingdom Culture Conversations, to hear Northwest Christian faculty and staff reflecting on the passages that we are all reading together!
