Sunapee Happenings

We're just into November and it continues to be a lovely and strange season in various ways.  From pumpkins still popping up in patches, to stately evergreens holding their ground after leaves have fallen.  It’s been a fabulous Autumn as we enjoy temperatures in the low 70’s. However, even as we revel in this balmy weather, the nagging realization that this may well be a symptom of climate change, tempers the pleasure. After yesterday’s election we’ll be relieved to see the end of relentless political ads and campaign signs for another two years… and perhaps the contentious rhetoric will also cool down with the season.

Dylan Patrick Ward: "Lyrically clever as hell, wicked funny, wicked dark. Monsters, death, and mayhem. Fear, weirdness, and alienation, all wrapped up in love."- Mark Piepkorn, Stage 33 Live, Bellows Falls, VT.

“Two battling narrators attempt to cover the entirety of Greek mythology using audience participation, cross-dressing, and general theatrical insanity. Creation myths such as Pandora's Box and Cronos and the Titans jostle for space with other famous myths like Jason and the Argonauts.” (Playscripts, Inc.)

Historical Note: Armistice Day

On November 11, 1918… in Compiegne, France, the declaration of Armistice was signed by all powers effectively ending military operations and hostilities on all fronts of World War I.  The world’s first official observance of Armistice Day was at Buckingham Palace, London on November 11th in 1919. Since then, many of the other Allied countries now recognize November 11th as "Remembrance Day". In America, we observe the date as "Veterans Day", recognizing and celebrating the service of all US military veterans.
