CiTY Newsletter - December 1, 2022
As the holiday season approaches again, I reflect on all we were able to accomplish at CiTY in 2022. It was great seeing all the team photos throughout the fall travel season. Once again, We had a great Fall Recreational program and were able to run the Special Needs Clinic with over 70 participants and about as many, if not more, volunteers! Thanks to all the volunteers including Chris Goodman who stepped in for Carmen Juliano as the lead.

I would like to thank our leadership team of Rob Ryerson (GM), Carmen Juliano (Technical Director), Wade Whitney (REC Director) and of course last but not least, Amanda Buckler (Director of Administration), for their continued service to our CiTY soccer community. For planning purposes, we have begun to discuss how we can improve the experience for all in the NEW YEAR!

I wanted to take a moment to update you on my health. I have two more chemo treatments. Although it has been rough, I have been able to keep a positive attitude during these last six months. I attribute this mentality to my time in sports and the challenges I faced and had to overcome during my playing years. I'm able to use those skills of overcoming difficult situations in sport in all parts of my life. We face challenges and it is how we handle them that matters. In addition, I wanted to thank all people that have reached out to me as it has been a reminder to know I am not alone in this!

The end of the year is near, so if you want to make a tax-deductible donation here are a couple you may want to look at.

The Get on the Bus program will be back and is aiming to serve over 150 kids from four or five Howard County Title 1 schools:

Get On the Bus
Get On the Bus (GOTB) is a non-profit, 501(c)3 that started right here in Howard County in 2018. GOTB has since funded over 1200 kids across the country to participate in an after-school program that emphasizes a healthy lifestyle and the importance of education, as well as play in a rec soccer league in their community.
Here in Howard County, GOTB players play in CiTY's Spring REC program, and we look forward to welcoming up to 100 players in Spring 2023. GOTB relies on grants and donations from the community to bring the program to these students in Title 1 schools, so when considering your giving for 2022, please remember GOTB! Donations can be made at www.gotbsoccer.org or through Paypal.
