Stallions in the Spotlight

We are excited to announce that our school was awarded $16,000 for recycling equipment and $4,746 for our water bottle refilling stations from the Ohio EPA Grant for Recycling and Litter Prevention in Central Ohio. Our SFD Environmental Club was instrumental in helping our school receive this grant -- special shout out to our Environmental Club advisors Mrs. Huelskamp and Mr. Buechner!

Two of our journalism students, Ila Allen and Kate Myaard, were accepted onto the OSMA Board for the 2024-25 academic year. OSMA is the Ohio Scholastic Media Association, a group formed to be a voice for Ohio's student journalists and their advisers, and to support strong journalism at the high school level.

Last Thursday several alumni and parents came to SFD for a Career Fair during lunch periods. Thank you to all who came to share their career experiences and advice with our students! Check out more pictures from this event on our school's Facebook and Instagram pages.

Senior Sadie Bassitt has been selected to participate in the 2024 All-Ohio Youth State Fair Choir this summer. She will spend over two weeks with the choir learning and performing music throughout the event. She was also recently informed that she won the Laura J Steele and Terry Thesis scholarship. Congrats Sadie!

A Note From the Dean's Office

As we return to our warm weather uniform, please ensure that the fit of your son or daughter's uniform meets policy as outlined below from the Family Handbook. If you have any questions, concerns, or need assistance in purchasing items, please do not hesitate to contact us at Mrs. Heather Evans (evans@desales.co) or Mr. Trent Sheumaker (sheumaker@desales.co).

Warm Weather Uniform

The uniform consists of a purple polo shirt in both men and women’s sizes and khaki shorts or a skort for the ladies and khaki shorts for the men. The shorts and skorts must have the official St. Francis DeSales logo sewn on them, and they must be no shorter than mid-thigh. The official uniform may only be purchased through Educational Apparel. The men must wear a black or brown belt with the shorts. Athletic shoes may be worn with the warm weather uniform with white ankle length socks (no footies). However, no high-top sneakers of any kind may be worn. Skorts and shorts cannot be rolled up or cut to make them shorter than their original length/design.

In addition, with our dress down days now including shorts, we have seen many students wearing shorts that do not follow our dress down policy and we are asking for your help to make sure that your son/daughter is in compliance. Please review the Out of Uniform Policy from the Family Handbook (pages 51 and 52).

Nurse's Notes

ATTENTION CURRENT JUNIOR STUDENTS/PARENTS!

*All junior students are required to submit verification of a second dose (given on or after their 16th birthday) of the Meningococcal conjugate (MenACWY) vaccine prior to the start of their senior year. It is a requirement in Ohio for all incoming seniors. Families can email the updated immunization record to the School Nurse, Kelli Fitzpatrick, BSN, RN, LSN, at fitzpatrick@desales.co or bring in a hard copy to school.

2023-2024 Sick Policy

Sick children often expose other students and school staff members to illnesses and germs. These illnesses are disruptive to the educational process and to other children and their families. Students who are ill should be kept home to help control the spread of germs. Please follow the guidelines linked here to help keep our school safe and healthy.

Spiritual Reflection

Dear God, our world longs for the peace that can only come from you. Help us to place our cares and our hearts in your hands. Your Son taught us to trust in you and the mystery of the cross. Help us when we are afraid to trust in you and your promise of new life. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
