NIFA Chief to CSU: `Let's walk together' to feed Ohio, the world


During his short visit to Central State University last week, Dr. Manjit Misra, director of the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), lauded CSU's commitment to its 1890 Land-Grant mission, a historic designation it won in 2014, 125 years after its first attempt. Read more. RESEARCH

2024 Undergraduate Research and Scholarly Activities Day 

About 50 students participated in the 2024 Undergraduate Research and Scholarly Activities Day held April 19, making oral and poster presentations on a wide variety of scientific studies ranging from soil carbon sequestration to stress levels in pollinator honeybees to body analysis for obesity prevention. Upon recommendations of faculty judges, two students were awarded $250 each for their oral presentations while three poster presenters received $100 each.

In the News...CSU's SUSHI Project recognized

LAND-GRANT PODCASTS

Extension Central podcast resumed Aug. 11 with a focus on "Rural Grocery Stores," presented as part of Extension's community and economic development program addressing stakeholders' needs where they live. Listen on SoundCloud or wherever you get your podcast.

Research Connection Podcast focuses on research activities and projects that are occupying the attention of CSU research faculty and students. You can listen on SoundCloud or on wcsufm.org.

PEOPLE

Mohammed Dabdoub started a new position April 8 as a Data Specialist for the Agricultural Research and Development Program. In that capacity, he will collect, manage, and analyze data, as well as help with preparing reports, and ensure compliance with funding agencies.


Prior to his new position, Dabdoub worked as a data analyst in the CSU Office of Institutional Research for 19 years. He was responsible for extracting data and submitting reports to the department's director, and to outside agencies.

Antwuan Talbott is the Administrative Coordinator for the John W. Garland College of Engineering, Science, Technology and Agriculture, a position he assumed on March 18.


Prior to assuming his new position, Talbott was an explosives instructor in the U.S. Army Phase 1 Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) school at Fort Lee Virginia. He served in the military for a total of 11 years, eight years as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician, and two years as an instructor.


Talbott has deployed twice, once to Iraq and once to Afghanistan. After leaving the military, Talbott received his MBA from American Military University. For the last six years, he worked for the Department of Homeland Security as a background investigator. He plans to continue his education to obtain a doctorate in cyber and global security, and eventually teach at the college level.
