The AHF Way in Action

At Atlantic Housing, our core values are not just something we post on our website and forget about - we focus on how to apply them every day! One team member that exemplifies our values of Excellence, Teamwork, Accountability, Integrity, Continuous Improvement, Investing in Human Capital, and Passion for Service is Delmi Canales, Community Manager at the Cedar Moor Apartments. She was nominated for The AHF Way Award because she trains other managers when needed, is a resilient and loving person, has a lot of patience, and encourages the staff to work as a team. According to one team member, she is transparent and will tell you things exactly as they are.

Here's how Delmi is described by the rest of her team:

"She is task-driven, knowledgeable and willing to help others learn from her experience, works hard at getting things done."

"If you want something done, ask Delmi - tell her you are moving out and she will have someone ready to move in when you leave."

"Her commitment to making Cedar Moor welcoming to the residents is her priority."

Delmi’s character and work ethic are also reflected in multiple Google reviews. One in particular stands out. The resident says,

“I had a rough year starting off, but Delmi is always kind and sensitive to my situation that I could not have asked for a better housing manager. We had come from a house that was literally falling apart and had to be condemned to a home that my boys and I can finally call home. Whenever there was something that needed to be done it was taken care of and even if I needed someone to talk to, Mrs. Delmi was and still is there for me and my family.”

Thank you, Delmi, for showing what it looks like to put the AHF Way in action!

Health Care for the Homeless

The Spring Grove Apartments Management Team has partnered with Health Care for the Homeless to help their clients transition to a permanent apartment home. Community Engagement Associate Tammy Taylor-Jones and Assistant Community Manager Kourtney Moss recently attended a memorial service honoring some of the clients experiencing homelessness who received services and had recently passed away. A mural commemorating those who helped with placement/counseling for the homeless was also revealed at the ceremony.
