Beyond KU- Social Change

The Beyond KU panel series showcases the variety of interdisciplinary options it takes for any given industry to operate. From different job titles within one industry to one job title spread out among a variety of industries.



The University Career Center and CSL on March 21 presented a virtual panel discussion titled "Beyond KU: Social Change," featuring people whose work contributes to social change in a range of fields.

Service Showcase + Celebration

The CSL's Service Showcase is on April 20 at 3:30 - 4:30pm CDT!


The annual Service Showcase and Celebration recognizes a year of service and community-engaged work at KU.


The Service Showcase is an opportunity for students to share their service projects and experiences with the University community and Lawrence community partners.

Student Community Action Corps

The Student Community Action Corps Program facilitates the engagement of KU students with various community nonprofit organizations or support in other community-engaged efforts.


Student employees support their partner organization and/or program with various tasks and projects while receiving monthly training and support from Center for Service Learning staff.

Claire serves with the Student United Way, a student organization that collaborates with a number of community partners to serve and strengthen the campus and the surrounding community.

Monty serves with ThrYve, a KU-led youth violence prevention initiative on the school and social media teams.

Nafiza works with LEAD UP and THRYVE/REVIVE. LEAD UP is a college readiness program and REVIVE is a youth violence prevention initiative.

Ignite Tutoring Fellowship , AmeriCorps VISTA Program, Research Lab Coordinator

Ignite Tutoring Fellowship


Teach For America’s Ignite Tutoring Fellowship is a virtual, paid, part-time opportunity open to all undergraduate and graduate students.


TFA Ignite Fellows virtually work with 1-3 elementary or middle school students to support their academic development by tutoring them for 3-5 hours per week.

AmeriCorps VISTA Program


Join the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas AmeriCorps VISTA Program.


As an AmeriCorps member in the VISTA program, you will support an organization to make sustainable change in areas that effect poverty, including education, public health, climate, access to benefits, and more.


Through activities such as fundraising, grant writing, research, and volunteer recruitment, you will gain professional experience and leadership skills. This opportunity prepares you for a life of service in the public, private, or nonprofit sector.

Research Lab Coordinator



A research lab coordinator is needed for a newly formed research lab at the University of Missouri Columbia.


The lab conducts research on Black youth and emerging adults specifically relating to issues of racism, systems of oppression, mental health, and health disparities.


Current research studies within Dr. Bernard’s lab focus on identifying culturally relevant risk and protective factors that shape how racism-related experiences impact mental health, trauma responses, and other psychosocial outcomes.



The preferred start date for this position is August 1 (or earlier).

HEAL KU is committed to building sustainable relationships with local organizations and advocating for ethical service in order to develop more conscientious community members.


HEAL KU works with local organizations to provide ongoing, sustainable service opportunities to its members. At general body meetings, the organization discusses various social justice topics, such as student homelessness and voter suppression.

Certificate in Service Learning

We invite you to consider earning a Certificate in Service LearningDuring the 2021-2022 academic year, 57 students were awarded a certificate in Service Learning.


Obtaining your certificate involves taking classes, engaging in volunteer work, and reflecting on your service learning experiences. Once you have earned the certificate, it is acknowledged on your official academic transcript.
