FROM YOUR TOURISM DIRECTOR

Dear Friends and Members,

As November unfolds, the spirit of gratitude fills the air in the Sebastian River Area. This is the time to gather with loved ones, reflect on the many blessings in our lives, and embrace the warmth of community. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, it's the perfect opportunity to slow down, enjoy cozy moments with family, and take in the beauty of our surroundings.

This season reminds us of the importance of supporting our local businesses. Whether you're picking up a unique gift, planning a holiday gathering, or preparing for festive celebrations, our local shops and markets are ready to make your season bright. Shopping locally not only helps our neighbors but, strengthens the bonds that make our community so special.

From the fresh breezes along the Indian River Lagoon to the rich fall colors in our parks, there’s so much to be thankful for this time of year. As we head into the heart of the holiday season, we encourage you to take a moment to appreciate all that our area has to offer—from scenic adventures to the friendly faces in our shops and restaurants.

So, whether you're enjoying a quiet Thanksgiving with family, preparing for a local shopping spree, or simply savoring the cozy days of fall, we’re grateful to have you as part of our community. Let’s celebrate the season together, with gratitude and a renewed appreciation for all the simple joys that make life in the Sebastian River Area truly special.

Gratefully yours,

Nicholas Sanzone

The District Sebastian

The District Sebastian: Preserving Paradise with Planned Growth

Nestled in the heart of Sebastian, The District Sebastian is a vibrant hub dedicated to preserving the charm of Old Florida while fostering planned growth. Since Suzanne and Jason took ownership 2.5 years ago, they have been revitalizing this unique locale with fresh paint and a lot of hard work—infusing the area with renewed energy and a commitment to the community.

A Passion for Community

Suzanne, a third-generation Floridian, embodies the spirit of the area. With roots deeply embedded in Sebastian—her father was a fishing guide and resident for 35 years—she has a profound love for the local vibe. Her professional background in advertising, sales, and marketing, combined with her artistic flair, brings a unique perspective to managing The District Sebastian.

Jason, originally from the Midwest, married the Florida girl Suzanne and loves the welcoming community of Sebastian. Together, they are frequently seen around The District Sebastian, supporting local businesses and engaging with tenants. Suzanne treasures the relationships she has cultivated, describing the community as a tapestry of diverse businesses and passionate individuals.

A Thriving Local Scene

The success of The District Sebastian is evident—there are currently no vacancies among the 17 businesses spread across 9 unique buildings surrounded by lush tropical landscapes. Many locals may be surprised to learn about the variety of shops and services available here. From delightful coffee and food options to unique retail experiences, The District offers something for everyone.

To truly appreciate the charm of this district, visitors are encouraged to grab a coffee or a bite to eat and stroll the property, discovering the many businesses and their offerings. The District Sebastian is not just a place to shop; it’s a community where relationships are fostered, and local pride thrives.

Engaging Events and Local Spirit

The District Sebastian actively participates in events organized by the Sebastian River Area Chamber of Commerce and hosts its own community events. This year, they will be hosting a kid-safe Trick or Treat event, creating a safe and fun space for local children. Additionally, they will take part in “Light Up Night,” one of the Chamber’s signature events in December, with plans for more community gatherings in 2025.

One notable landmark within The District is the historic Simeon Park House, which boasts a mysterious aura and a historic marker on its front. Rumor has it that the building may or may not be haunted, adding a touch of intrigue to any visit.

The Heart of Sebastian

Jason and Suzanne believe that The District Sebastian is the downtown heart of the community, serving as a gathering place for both locals and tourists alike. With its unique Old Florida style and diverse range of businesses, it’s a must-visit destination.

As Suzanne and Jason continue their efforts to enhance The District Sebastian, their dedication to making the Sebastian River Area a fun place to visit, live, and shop locally. If you haven’t explored The District Sebastian yet, what are you waiting for? Come experience all it has to offer and be part of this thriving community.
