CALL FOR 2024 PGA OF BC FALL TRADE SHOW VOLUNTEERS

The PGA of BC is seeking volunteers for the upcoming PGA of BC Fall Trade Show, held October 29-30 at the River Rock Casino Resort.


With the majority of volunteer shifts filled, the Association is specifically looking for volunteers on the morning of Tuesday, October 29, from 9am-12pm. Volunteers will assist in several ways: Registration; acting as an usher to guide attendees to the show floor; and offering assistance and support to exhibitors throughout the Show.


PGA of BC members who volunteer at the 2024 Fall Trade Show will be awarded one Professional Development Program (PDP) point per hour, up to a maximum of 12 points. We thank all volunteers in advance for their dedication to and support of the Association and its initiatives.

PGA OF BC AWARDS CELEBRATION IS NOW SOLD OUT

The PGA of BC Office Team advises all members that tickets for the 2024 Awards Celebration are now sold-out. At this time, we ask that all PGA of BC members reach out to the office directly to reserve their place on the waitlist. Should tickets become available on the date of the event (October 29), options for purchases will be made available to members during day one of the 2024 PGA of BC Fall Trade Show.

 

The PGA of BC Awards Celebration presented by TRIBAL is an annual tradition and opportunity to recognize the individuals and golf facilities that are leaders in our Association. This year’s event will include beverages and hors d'oeuvres, as well as an enhanced awards presentation. Doors will open at 6:00pm PT and the Awards Celebration will begin at 7:00pm PT. We look forward to welcoming members of the Association, sponsors, and media personalities to the event to celebrate the achievements of professionals and facilities from across British Columbia.

APPLICATION OPEN FOR 2024 PGA OF CANADA WARREN CROSBIE COMMUNITY LEADER OF THE YEAR AWARD

The Warren Crosbie Community Leader of the Year Award, introduced in 2020 and named after PGA of Canada Past President and Life Member Warren Crosbie, is presented annually to a member of the association who has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and gone above and beyond to make a meaningful and lasting impact within their community with an emphasis on ED&I initiatives to grow the game for everyone.

The UBC Women's Golf Team won the Gail Moore Intercollegiate at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Washington on October 21 & 22. The Thunderbirds closed the event with a team score of 574 (-2) to defeat runners-up Oregon Tech by 25 strokes. Bo Brown shot a career-best 69 in the final round to force a playoff, where she won gold. Teammate Jessica Ng also qualified for the playoff, ultimately earning third place.


The UBC Men's Golf Team took the victory at the UBC Men's Invitational at Gold Mountain Golf Club on October 20-22. The Thunderbirds posted a team score of 841 (-23) to take the 12-stroke victory. Dylan MacDonald won the individual gold title after shooting a UBC program record 199 (-17). His final round 64 (-8) also tied the program's single-round scoring record. Teammate Aidan Schumer earned individual silver with a socre of 207 (-9).

Simon Fraser University Red Leafs

The SFU Women's Golf Team competed in the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate at The Village Course at Waikoloa in Waikoloa, Hawaii on October 21 & 22. The Red Leafs closed the event with a team score of 604 (+28) to earn a fourth-place finish among 15 teams. Izzy Ferguson paced the team with a two-round score of 148 (+4) to finish in seventh place on the individual leaderboard. Teammate Dana Smith was one shot back of Ferguson, tying for 10th place.


The SFU Men's Golf Team competed in the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate at The Village Course at Waikoloa on October 21 & 22. Finishing the event with a team score of 587 (+11), the Red Leafs tied for ninth place. Denby Carswell shined for the team, shooting 5-under across two rounds to tie for sixth place on the individual leaderboard.


UVic Vikes


Coaching Staff: Justin Clews, David Rands


The UVic Women's Golf Team competed in the Gail Moore Intercollegiate at Gold Mountain Golf Club on October 21-22, where the Vikes earned a third-place finish. Propelling the team to that bronze-medal result was Cindy Koira, who starred with rounds of 70-74 to close her tournament at even-par and earn fourth place on the individual leaderboard.


The UVic Men's Golf Team competed in the UBC Men's Invitational at Gold Mountain Golf Club on October 21-22, where they finished in third place. The Vikes were led by Owen Croft, who tied for seventh place at 1-under par, and Maguire Lines, tying for ninth at even par.

UBC Okanagan Heat


Coaching Staff: Clay Stothers, Mackenzie Barrie, Brandon Raine


The UBCO Women's Golf Team took a silver medal as runners-up at the Canada West Championships this week. Closing the two-round championship with a team score of 18-over par, the Heat were propelled by Bess Chan, who finished at even-par to lead the team and earn sixth place among individuals.


The UBCO Men's Golf Team took their program's first ever Canada West Championships title in dominant fashion, posting a combined score of 24-under to win by 17 strokes. Ryan Gillis (-9) won the individual title, while Thomas Lemay (-7) finished as runner-up and Andrew Rouble (-4) tied for third.

University of the Fraser Valley Cascades



Coaching Staff: Connor O'Dell, Kathy Stecyk, Sean Douglas


The UFV Women's Golf Team competed in the Canada West Championships, where they finished in third place. Morgan Best led the way for the Cascades, shooting one-over par to tie for seventh place among individuals.


The UFV Men's Golf Team earned a fifth-place result in the Canada West Championships. Eli Greene was the top performer for UFV, closing his tournament at 2-over and tie for 16th place on the individual leaderboard.
