Thank You 2024 Leadership Academy Attendees!

The 2024 FAFP Leadership Academy: The Foundations of Leadership was presented by FAFP Past President, Dr. Bruce Flareau, and completed by 22 pre-selected attendees on Friday, April 5. This one-day, live in-person leadership development program provided the physician participants the opportunity to experience real-world activities and behavioral change management techniques. Tailored to participants’ skill sets and needs, the program was designed to develop a cohort of current emerging Family Physician leaders, as well as assist Family Physicians in their pursuit to lead across and within the healthcare industry, thereby assuring the delivery of high-quality care to patients.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services released an April 1, 2024, ruling reinforcing that all hospital-based physicians and providers must obtain informed consent prior to examining "outside the medically necessary procedure (such as breast, pelvic, prostate, and rectal examinations), particularly on anesthetized patients." FAFP members practicing in the hospital setting should address this new rule with your employers to ensure proper measures are being implemented to maintain compliance.

FRAME Deadline Extended to April 15

The application deadline for this year’s cycle of the Florida Reimbursement Assistance for Medical Education (FRAME) Program has been extended to Monday, April 15. This program assists eligible physicians, residents, and other healthcare practitioners with the repayment of medical education loans. Qualifying MDs and DOs in primary care specialties, including family medicine, can receive awards up to $20,000 per year. $13million of the $16m allocated in 2023 was awarded to physicians so do not delay in applying to determining if you qualify for an award.
