We're excited to share with you our 2022 Scholarship Winner, Blakely Parker! Blakely is employed at Performance Contractors as the Environmental Health and Safety Administrative Assistant and is a second year graduate student at Auburn University. Our Annual Meeting & Environmental Stewardship Awards is just over a week away! You don't want to miss this fun evening of celebrating members, good food, live music and networking so reserve your tickets by Monday, September 26.

Looking ahead, we will be hosting another Cause to Clean event, this time focused on Highway 43. We'd love to see our members there. Details and registration is listed in the newsletter and on our website.

2022 PEP SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT: BLAKLEY PARKER

PEP'S 2021 COMMUNITY PARTNER WINS EPA GULF GUARDIAN AWARD


The Nature Conservancy recently received a first-place 2022 EPA Gulf Guardian award for Partnerships. The Lightning Point Shoreline Restoration Project in Bayou Batre brought together many partners, including PEP members Moffat & Nichol, Alabama Power and Rowe Engineering. PEP contributed to the project by providing amenities near the pavilion and along the walking trail.


At PEP's September Membership breakfast, Mary Kate Brown and Judy Haner presented Jennifer Denson and Spencer Wiggins with special recognition for this partnership.

NEW FACES AT ALABAMA PORT AUTHORITY


Alabama Port Authority Director and CEO John Driscoll has announced a new external affairs team to lead communications and government relations for the state port authority.


The new External Affairs team includes Maggie E. Oliver, Vice President of Communications & Federal Affairs, Catherine Reaves, Vice President of Policy & State Affairs and Molly Tillman, Director of Public Affairs.


This announcement comes as longtime port authority leader, Judith Adams, is set to retire in December. Adams has served the state of Alabama at the port authority for 28 years and been instrumental in the port’s growth. Catherine Reaves is standing for election to replace Judith's seat. We thank Judith for her service to PEP!

Join us for the next Cause to Clean as we cleanup Highway 43. More than 70 volunteers joined us in removing more than 100 bags of litter from our last Cause to Clean event on the Causeway.

PHEASANT SHOOT: NOVEMBER 10


PEP is hosting our 4th Annual Continental Pheasant Shoot at the Dennis Lake Wing Club in Bay Minette. This half-day networking event helps us raise funds for PEP’s Science and Technology Scholarship Program and the PEP Gulf Coast Environmental Foundation.
