K-Beach Elementary School Assistant Principal Elizabeth Kvamme named the Alaska Association of Elementary School Principals National Outstanding Assistant Principal for 2023.

The Alaska Association of Elementary School Principals is proud to announce our National Outstanding Assistant Principal for 2023 is Elizabeth Kvamme, Assistant Principal of K-Beach Elementary School in Soldotna, Alaska. 

Elizabeth Kvamme was nominated and selected through a statewide search process conducted by the Alaska Association of Elementary School Principals. Kvamme graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington with a B.S. in Elementary Education, and went on to receive her M. Ed. in Educational Leadership from the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine in 2015. Prior to beginning her service as the Assistant Principal at K-Beach Elementary School in 2019, Kvamme was an elementary teacher in Maine, and taught 5th and 6th grade at Soldotna Elementary School. 

Kvamme is recognized for consistently creating a positive school culture focused on citizenship. She is a leader in her school community, having served on the Kenai Peninsula Borough PBIS Leadership Team and the Effective Literacy Team, as well as co-facilitating the Student Leadership Team at K-Beach Elementary. Her Principal, Ms. Janae Van Slyke, shared that Kvamme is “an outstanding administrator who creates a positive school climate for her students. Because of Mrs. Kvamme, students are engrossed with how their actions impact their daily lives.”

NAESP created the NOAP program in 2012 to honor assistant principals who make stellar contributions to their learning communities and to call attention to the fundamental importance of the assistant principal. Recipients of this award are practicing assistant principals with at least two years’ experience in the role who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and have set high standards for students, colleagues, parents and the community. All National Outstanding Assistant Principals are members of NAESP at the time of their nomination.
