APGFCU Partner Sponsor

We would like to thank APG Federal Credit Union for partnering with us on our enrollment events during the month of March at the EPICENTER Edgewood. We were able to provide free pizza to participants thanks to the sponsorship of APGFCU who also joined us to offer services to visitors.

We are delighted to extend our congratulations to Holly Preston, WCHC Chief Operating Officer and Compliance Officer, and Laura Hannan, WCHC Board of Directors Member and Executive Director of the Fair Hill Nature Center, for their well-deserved nominations to the Upper Chesapeake Women to Watch 2024 list. Their dedication, leadership, and contributions have not only made a significant impact within our organization but also within the broader community. Congratulations, Holly and Laura!

Did you know that April is Diversity Month? At West Cecil Health Center, we recognize and celebrate the important role of diversity and inclusivity not only in April but throughout the year. Our Diversity and Inclusion Focus Group is a critical part of our organization in our ongoing efforts to create a culture at WCHC that is inclusive, representative, and considerate of our staff and our patients of all backgrounds and abilities. The theme of "Together We're Better" is one that you will see throughout WCHC facilities because we believe that every individual's well-being is interconnected and strengthened when we support each other as a community.

WCHC Board of Directors

As a Federally Qualified Health Center, WCHC’s Board of Directors is comprised of at least 51% of patients of the health center. We are grateful for the dedication of our board members who provide guidance on all aspects of how WCHC serves our community.

Serving as a board member for WCHC is a rewarding, fulfilling experience that can allow you to help make a positive difference in your community. Our board members are actively engaged in the governance and strategic vision of WCHC and help further the mission of the organization through attendance at monthly meetings and service on a variety of specialty committees that help increase access to care for those in our surrounding communities.

Mental Health Matters

Helping to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health.

April marks Stress Awareness Month, a time dedicated to shedding light on the pervasive issue of stress and its impact on mental and physical health. In today's fast-paced world, stress has become a common experience for many, affecting individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Stress Awareness Month serves as a reminder to prioritize self-care, recognize the signs of stress, and seek healthy coping strategies. From work deadlines to personal relationships and financial pressures, stressors can arise from various aspects of life, often leading to feelings of anxiety, exhaustion, and being overwhelmed. By raising awareness about the prevalence and impacts of stress, individuals and communities can work together to foster resilience and promote mental well-being. Throughout April, take the time to check in with yourself and loved ones, practice self-care techniques, and seek support when needed. Together, we can create a culture of understanding, compassion, and proactive stress management during Stress Awareness Month and beyond.

WCHC Behavioral Health is currently accepting new patients for both in-person and telehealth medication management. We are currently on a waitlist for therapy services. If you, or someone you know, are in need of care, please call the office today at 410-378-9696 to schedule.

Registration is now open for the 55+ Volunteer Leadership Program (55VLP). Sponsored by Cecil County Department of Community Services and AmeriCorps Seniors, the five-week program is a way for adults ages 55 and older to learn about community needs, find ways to respond, and make some new friends in the process.

A Note for Patients:

The Clinical & Group Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) Survey

Over the next several months, a company named DataStat/MDPCP (Maryland Primary Care Program) may send you a survey in the mail (or email) on behalf of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Maryland Primary Care Program evaluates practices on the results of these surveys.

Your opinion is important to us. If you receive a survey in the mail, please complete the survey as soon as possible. Your feedback will help inform how we can better provide services to our patients.

Participation in this survey is voluntary and anonymous. Our practice will not see individual results or receive notification of the patients who participated in the survey. DataStat will provide our practice with a summary of the results upon completion.
