Renewing God’s Creation: Daily Meditations for Lent 2024
"Lent invites us to reflect on our relationships with God, each other, and the Earth upon which all life depends.
The Creation Care Leadership Circle, a small group in the Diocese of Western Massachusetts that advises our Missioner for Creation Care, invites you to sign up to receive an inspirational daily meditation email (including a short quote and an image) during the Forty Days of Lent. The quotes come from diverse sources as we honor the wisdom of many voices and traditions.
Please join us for our third annual series of Lenten meditations as we contemplate the gift of the natural world and our calling to reconcile humanity with the rest of God’s creation."

Preaching Climate Justice in Lent
Feb 20, 10am
Online
Organized by the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts.
"As the world awakens to catastrophic threats to our climate and as authoritarian leaders threaten democracy, Lent invites us to join Jesus on his journey to Jerusalem. If we are to engage the greatest moral challenge humanity has ever faced, we need Jesus’ guidance.
This webinar will suggest ways in which our Lenten texts provide an opportunity to shape sermons that offer hope to our congregations, engage their imagination, and inspire them to take action for climate justice."
Speakers:
-
The Rev. Dr. Jim Antal, Special Advisor on Climate Justice to the General Minister and President, United Church of Christ
-
The Rev. Dr. Margaret Bullitt-Jonas, Missioner for Creation Care, Episcopal Diocese of Western MA & Southern New England Conference, United Church of Christ; Creation Care Advisor, Episcopal Diocese of MA

The General’s Son: Journey of an Israeli in Palestine
"A powerful account, by Israeli peace activist Miko Peled, of his transformation from a young man who'd grown up in the heart of Israel's elite and served proudly in its military into a fearless advocate of nonviolent struggle and equal rights for all Palestinians and Israelis. His journey is mirrored in many ways the transformation his father, a much-decorated Israeli general, had undergone three decades earlier. Alice Walker contributed a foreword to the first edition in which she wrote, 'There are few books on the Israel/Palestine issue that seem as hopeful to me as this one.' In the new Epilogue he takes readers to South Africa, East Asia, several European countries, and the West Bank, Gaza, and Israel itself.
The book discussion will be facilitated by Max Sklar. Max Sklar attended Berkeley Divinity School at Yale (MDiv ‘23). He is a transitional Deacon in the Episcopal Church with the Diocese of Massachusetts and will be ordained a priest on February 10. Since the summer of this year, Max has been living & working with a Palestinian Christian community in Ramallah through The Episcopal Church Office of Global Partnerships. He was residing in Ramallah on October 7th and remained there until he was evacuated back to the USA at the end of the month.
This book discussion is open to all in Province I (New England dioceses.)"

Wild Tea with Jesus: A Day Retreat at BCH
Mar 16, 9am
Greenfield, NH
"Spend a day at BCH entering into Jesus’ Lenten journey by engaging in an ancient human tradition- making tea. Our tea will be created from wild ingredients on the BCH property. Through the ritual of foraging, brewing and drinking our tea, we will create an atmosphere where we can dig deep into two separate stories of Jesus staying close with God in his last days."
