1. New Dean of Students: Welcome Abby Schmitt!
Beaver Dam High School is thrilled to welcome Abby Schmitt as the new Dean of Students. Abby brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the role, having replaced Rob Essig, our former Associate Principal. With her passion for student success and dedication to fostering a positive school culture, Abby is poised to make a lasting impact on the Beaver Dam High School community.
2. Academic Achievements: Celebrating Excellence in Athletics
Beaver Dam High School takes pride in recognizing the academic achievements of its student-athletes. For the first semester, several athletic teams have achieved an impressive team GPA of 3.0 or higher:
Fall 3.0 or higher:
- Boys/Girls Cross Country: 3.02
- Girls Tennis: 3.64
- Girls Golf: 3.46
- Girls Swimming: 3.62
- Girls Volleyball: 3.51
Winter 3.0 or higher:
- Boys Basketball: 3.29
- Girls Basketball: 3.8
- Boys Hockey: 3.35
- Girls Hockey: 3.07
These exceptional student-athletes not only excel on the field but also in the classroom, embodying the school's commitment to both academic and athletic success.
3. Building Partnerships with Area Trades
Beaver Dam High School is actively fostering partnerships with local trades in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, construction, and painting. Representatives from these trades will be visiting classrooms to promote the trades and discuss potential youth apprenticeship opportunities for the upcoming school year.
Currently, the high school has 37 students engaged in registered Youth Apprenticeships in various fields, including:
- Hospitality/Food and Beverage
- Manufacturing-Welding
- Education-Early Childhood
- Health-Nursing Assistant
- Manufacturing-Processes
- Marketing-Professional Sales
- Animal-Herd
- Agriculture-Plant Fundamentals
- STEM-Mechanical/Electrical
These partnerships aim to provide students with valuable real-world experiences and opportunities to explore diverse career paths.
