Questions to ask your student:

  1. Did you register for spring classes?
  2. Are you coming home for Thanksgiving break?
  3. Have you talked to the Career Center about career prep?

How can you help?

Be aware that students will start to feel academic pressure leading up to finals. Encourage them to use our tutoring, writing, and speech and presentation centers. Encourage your student to make their health and wellness a priority by eating right, exercising, and getting enough sleep.

"He who has a why can endure any how"

Frederick Nietzsche

Does your student know why they are going to college? Knowing their why is an important step in figuring out how to achieve their goals.

“When you know your ‘why’ then your ‘what’ has more impact because you’re working towards your purpose.” Michael Jr.

It's ok if your student doesn't know their why. That is the beauty of college, they get to take different classes and explore different options. If they are searching for their why and need help finding it. Send them to the Career Center. Not only do they do career assessments but they will give your student some insight on their personality type and help them discover opportunities that they may not have considered.

Those students who know their "why" will have more confidence and momentum. Career prep shouldn't wait until senior year. Read this article for 5 ways your student can begin career prep in their first year.

SPRING REGISTRATION

Spring registration is coming up quickly. It's an exciting time, and a great opportunity for parents to help their students reflect on the things that have worked well during Fall Semester and discuss new opportunities for success.
