Hispanic Heritage Month is now, September 15 to October 15! The purpose is to recognize and celebrate the many contributions, diverse cultures, and extensive histories of the American Latino community.
Started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson then expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period. It begins on Sep. 15 because that is the day of independence for Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua.
Hispanic refers to people who speak Spanish or are descended from Spanish-speaking populations, while Latino refers to people who are from or descended from people from Latin America. Hispanic culture is known for close ties with families, as well as rich culinary, musical, religious, and holiday traditions that are passed down among families.
How will you celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month? Learn, Share, and Do.

A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) is a wonderful way for donors who are 70½ and older to make a gift from their IRA to support their favorite causes. QCDs are a good gift now as you near the end of the year since donors age 72 and older must take their required minimum distribution (RMD).
