What We're Reading

As we gear up for summer, we're getting ready with some books we're very excited to read! Check them out at the library:

Horse

by Geraldine Brooks

"Based on the remarkable true story of the record-breaking thoroughbred Lexington, Horse is a novel of art and science, love and obsession, and our unfinished reckoning with racism."-- Provided by publisher.

Recommended by CAROLYN, who also recommends visiting the Museum of the Horse in Lexington, KY!

The Winter's Tale: Texts and Contexts

by William Shakespeare; Edited by Mario DiGangi

Recommended by BEN, who notes that Shorewood Public Library's copy of this work "includes not just the play, but also a varied selection of essays interpreting and relating it to actual life". Ben also notes he likes the irony of recommending a book with winter in the title for a summer read!

A Short Stay in Hell

by Steven Peck

"A damned man struggles to find meaning in a library, the dimensions of which are measured in light years." --Provided by publisher.

Recommended by KAYLA, who notes it's a "a lovely, existential little horror book" with "purgatorial concepts within this book (that) are extremely creative, thoughtful, and very uniquely beautiful."
