CPT Authorization Due by November 1st



The last date to request AND begin Curricular Practical Training (CPT) authorization is November 1st, 2024. If you plan to pursue an internship/co-op to take place this fall term, please submit your request for CPT via iTerp immediately.

2024 Roberta Ma Scholarship Announcement


Dr. Roberta Ma was a biochemist and educator who opened her Maryland home to international students in the 1960s. Her home became a gathering place for students from UMD, fostering community and cultural exchange. To continue her dream of building international understanding, the Roberta Ma Scholarship was created, providing financial support to international students in need.

CPT Workshop: Off-Campus Internships for F-1 students

This session, led by an International Student Advisor, will assist International Students in applying for work authorization, or CPT. This authorization allows F-1 students wishing to participate in an off-campus training program that is an integral part of an established curriculum. CPT authorization must be obtained BEFORE you begin working.

International Coffee Hour is a great way to connect with other students/scholars (both domestic and international) and meet UMD staff and faculty while enjoying coffee, tea, and snacks! International Coffee Hour takes place Thursdays from 2:30pm - 3:30pm at various locations around our beautiful campus.

Free HIV/STI Testing Event

Oct 30, 1 - 3p.m.

Come to the ground floor of the University Health Center on Wednesday 10/30 between 1pm and 3pm for free rapid HIV testing. A counselor from Heart to Hand will perform a quick finger prick to draw a drop of blood and deliver your results within a few minutes. The free HIV testing is open to students and non-students. A limited number of registered students will also have the option to get tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia (results within a week). This event is first come, first served. There will be free safer sex giveaways and sexual health resources! For questions or accommodations, contact miriam64@umd.edu.

WTS Baltimore - Undergraduate Scholarship Application - 2024

The Baltimore Chapter of the Women's Transportation Seminar (WTS) is offering a scholarship of $5,000 to a deserving female undergraduate student from any accredited college or university in the state of Maryland who intends to pursue a transportation related career. Click here for more info.

International Student Support Group

Fridays 11a.m. - 12:30p.m.


International Students are invited to participate in a weekly support group where they can talk about adjustment concerns, acculturative stress, academic stress, social challenges, personal problems, and mental health. this also is a great place to share information and connect with others.
