The Vestry and Wardens Began a New Term Easter Monday
FROM THE ASSOCIATE RECTOR
Every Easter that has gone by since my childhood, I seem to always combine the glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ with the newness of Spring and all that this time of year brings to the land, animals, insects, to the weather and people which can be summed up into new birth, growth, and the warmth of the sun. Looking at the season of Easter through this kind of lens seems to keep the reason of God’s love for and toward all mankind through Christ before us with a freshness. This year the solar eclipse accompanied Spring and Easter by magnifying the lens for some of us to bring to life Psalm 148:7-12:
Praise the Lord from the earth, you sea monsters and all deeps,
fire and hail, snow and frost, stormy wind fulfilling his command!
Mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars!
Wild animals and all cattle, creeping things and flying birds!
Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the earth!
Young men and women alike, old and young together!
As we continue in Eastertide, let us not forget the beauty of life all around us. Be encouraged to become aware of God’s creation by emerging ourselves into its goodness that is life-giving medicine for our minds, bodies, souls, and spirits. So, smile and laugh, greet each other with handshakes and gentle hugs, sing or play an instrument to make beautiful music, pray and meditate, serve others with joy, be open to meet new people, and be thankful for being alive. In the midst of enjoying all of God’s goodness, let us not forsake coming together in worship through love at Saint Paul’s Church—the downtown church for the city of Augusta.

Serve at Field Day at Hornsby Elementary
Friday, April 19, 9-3 PM
CALLING ALL WANNABE JOCKS AND FRUSTRATED REFS. W. S. Hornsby Elementary School Needs You!
Field Day is scheduled for Friday, April 19, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and Ms. Jacquelyn Williams, physical education teacher, needs 15 volunteers to help with setup and assist with running a variety of games and races. If you thought adolescent soccer games were a challenge, just wait until you help a group of second and third graders run sack races. Yep, they fall down, and they can’t get up (without your help). This will be the most fun you will have had since you were that third grader lying on the ground in a burlap bag.
Questions? Email Barbara Coleman or call at 706-495-1884.

The Sunday Forum New Series
Being Salt and Light
Beginning Sunday, April 21
Mother Kimberly leads a new series in our Sunday Forum beginning April 21, 9:30 am. What do the Holy Scriptures tell us about being salt and light? How can Christians add “seasoning” to a world that seems to already have its own flavor? How can Christians illuminate spaces that seem to embrace the status quo? How can a simple conversation and a way of being become a spark that ignites a positive exchange and leaves people wanting more? Let us walk together, share stories, and discover how our daily living can become liberating ways that will leave people wanting more.

Daughters of the King
Support the Women Spring Drive
Through April 30
The annual Saint Paul’s Bra Drive sponsored by the St. Ruth Byllesby Chapter of the Order of the Daughters of the King has evolved into the Support Augusta Women and Girls Personal Clothing Drive. The DOK is expanding our connections with local shelters to provide personal apparel and hygiene items. This is a significant need for all local shelters in the Augusta Area and Saint Paul’s is the only entity providing these items to all these shelters. From March 17th until the end of April, we will have our turquoise and white flowered boxes in Tyler Hall and the Narthex. We will collect gently used bras; new bras and underwear; and feminine menstrual products for the following agencies: Children Protective Services, Hope House, I-Care, Safe Homes, and Salvation Army Shelters. For more information, contact Janet Olson.
