PUBLIC ART ENDOWMENT

Artist Selected for Sculpture at The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital

Internationally recognized sculptor, Cliff Garten, will bring the next great piece of art to Cone Health. His work will be prominently displayed at The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in the outdoor space between the Cone Health Women’s & Children Center and the Cone Health Heart & Vascular Center. Garten was chosen from multiple artists across the country and selected by CFGG’s Public Art Endowment Trustees and Cone Health stakeholders.

Garten is the founder of Cliff Garten Studio in Venice, California. With a Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture from Rhode Island School of Design and a Master of Landscape Architecture with Distinction from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, he and his studio are known for creating public places that thoughtfully integrate sculpture with landscape. He also has done extensive work creating art for medical facilities, most recently the Mark Ridley Thomas Behavioral Center at the Martin Luther King Hospital in Los Angeles and the Laurance S. Rockefeller Outpatient Pavilion at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan, New York.

GUILFORD NONPROFIT CONSORTIUM

Board Development Academy

Board members carry a lot of responsibility -- from making sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies to securing resources to help organizations achieve their missions. However, few board members receive the formal training they need to be successful.

To build this capacity, the Consortium is pleased to bring together a stellar faculty for Board Development Academy. The winter/spring session will be held each week on Tuesday evening from February 21 through April 4. The Academy is ideal for people who have recently joined a nonprofit board, are taking on a new board role, or want to brush up on their skills.

The cost is $200 for Consortium members and $300 for non-members. Registration will open in November; if you would like to be notified when registration opens, send an email

  • Last call for grants! This year, the deadline for submitting grants to ensure nonprofits receives grants prior to December 31st is noon on December 14.

  • Have questions? We’re here to help! Please note that CFGG is closed for observance of Christmas on December 23 and 26 so our employees can spend time with their families.
