Minister for Evangelism: Alex Wirth
Welcoming Children to Worship
Joining Us for Two Years on September 5
As is mentioned in a summer update letter from Shannon Kershner--a letter mailed to the congregation at the end of this week and arriving in your mailbox in the days ahead--a Minister for Evangelism will be joining our pastoral staff in the weeks ahead.

We are pleased to announce that
the person filling that role, beginning September 5, will be Alex Wirth.

This will be a two-year position, at the end of which we will search for an Associate Pastor for Evangelism. Intentionally, Alex will not be eligible to be called to that Associate Pastor role: that will give him more flexibility over the next two years to help us think creatively about how we might configure that position going forward and what it means to be a member of Fourth Church.

Alex--who comes to us from Lakeview Presbyterian Church and is also the son and husband of Presbyterian pastors--is excited about this opportunity, as are we!

Alex will also be the primary pastoral presence at our weekly Jazz at Four worship service, and we look forward to that as well.

As Alex takes on several of the responsibilities previously held by Hardy Kim, one piece of Hardy's portfolio--that of serving as the primary staff resource for Young Adults--will be taken on by Abbi Heimach-Snipes, our current Pastoral Resident. Abbi has been integrally involved with young adults at Fourth Church since she arrived last August, and so this is a natural connection for her to maintain and grow.

Please join us next month in welcoming Alex into ministry with us!

Family Worship Bulletins Available
Sunday School does not meet again until the Children, Youth, and Family Fall Kickoff on September 10, and so we are particularly pleased to welcome children and youth to worship this month.

Parents, be sure to take advantage of the special family worship bulletins available from the ushers at the 9:30 and 11:00 services. These bulletins help children follow along during the service, offer explanations of worship elements, provide scripture-based activities, and prompt family discussion afterwards through questions posed.

We hope all worshipers will join us in greeting and making feel at home these youngest members of our church family!

For Children 18-24 Months and Their Parents
Parents of children ages 18 to 24 months (by September 1), come connect with your child in an interactive environment specifically designed for young children!

The Fourth Church Day School is offering a new opportunity to do that beginning this September. "We Play Together" provides a weekly time to enjoy free-play activities, songs, and stories led by an early childhood professional, Miss Meg. It's also a great occasion for meeting other families.

Classes will be held on Tuesdays from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m., September through June.

Enrollment is limited. For details or to enroll, contact Kathy Hager (312.640.2579; khager@fourthchurch.org).
