Hello Wolfpack!
I am writing to share with you the incredible experience we had at our recent Diversity Convocation on Friday, April 19. It was truly an event to remember.
The Diversity Convocation showcased the vibrant tapestry of cultures, talents, and perspectives within our school community. From musical performances to spoken word pieces, each act celebrated the rich diversity that makes our school unique.
One of the highlights of the event was the seamless organization. The planning committee worked tirelessly to ensure that every aspect of the convocation ran smoothly. From logistics to program coordination, their dedication was evident in the execution of the event.
Equally impressive was the respectful behavior and participation of our student audience. It was heartwarming to see students actively engage with the performances and speakers, demonstrating a genuine appreciation for the diversity represented on stage.
The Diversity Convocation served as a powerful reminder of the importance of embracing and celebrating our differences. It provided a platform for meaningful dialogue and reflection, fostering a greater sense of understanding and unity within our school community.
As we continue to strive for inclusivity and acceptance, events like the Diversity Convocation serve as catalysts for positive change. They remind us of the value of embracing diversity and working together to create a more inclusive and equitable environment for all.
Let us carry the spirit of the Diversity Convocation forward in our daily lives, embracing diversity, fostering inclusivity, and celebrating the unique contributions of every member of our community.
The strength of the wolf is in the pack.

Important Graduation Ceremony Message for Seniors:
Graduation is a momentous occasion filled with excitement and anticipation, not only for the graduates but also for their families and friends. We understand the desire to make this moment uniquely yours, but it's important to remember that this day holds significance for every family present. Each student will hear their name called once as they cross the stage, marking their achievement. While celebrating, let's remain mindful of the next student and family awaiting their turn. Disrupting this shared experience out of self-interest contradicts the spirit of our celebration.

I am reaching out to share an important update regarding our efforts to address tardiness among our high school students.
Over the past few weeks, we have noticed a concerning trend regarding tardiness among some of our students. While we understand that various factors can contribute to lateness, we believe it's crucial to address this issue proactively to ensure that all students can thrive in their educational environment.
As part of our ongoing efforts to promote punctuality and accountability, we are implementing a reset and relaunch of our tardy plan.
| |
Please see our plan for moving forward. Staff will continue to support students through Four at the Door + One More. This school-based initiative is designed to pull students into the classroom by welcoming them in. Staff will also communicate with students when they are tardy and will notify the parent or guardian.
By working together, we can create an environment where all students feel supported and empowered to succeed. Your partnership in this effort is invaluable, and we're grateful for your collaboration as we strive to promote a culture of responsibility and punctuality in our high school community.

STA Bus Stops
We've received feedback from our neighbors regarding behavior at the bus stop in NC, including reports of students knocking on windows, swearing, screaming, loitering in front of business doors, and swinging on the railing.
Despite efforts by business owners to address these behaviors with students, there hasn't been a noticeable improvement.
In response, NC will be stepping up monitoring of bus stops in our area. We kindly request your support in discussing appropriate behavior with your students while at the bus stop. Thank you for your cooperation.

Bulletin Boards
NC has revamped bulletin boards throughout the building. As a communication method, there is now a specific place to look for upcoming events. Additionally, information about clubs may also be found. This is added to NCNN, digital bulletin boards, daily announcements, and the student handbook as communication tools for student information. Thank you to Wendi Lind for all of your efforts.

Washington World Fellow for 2024: Aareel Washington
Congratulations to Aareel Washington. Aareel was chosen by Washington's Lieutenant Governor's office as one of 15 students across the state to be a Washington World Fellow for 2024. The purpose of the program is to provide students with training that will enhance their high school academics, support their trajectory into college, and encourage them to become leaders in their communities and beyond.
Aareel will begin a rigorous academic program at the end of April. It includes college research, mentoring, and preparation for college entrance exams. Fellows spend the spring of their junior year preparing for a study abroad experience. He will participate in a 6 week study abroad program in Viana Spain. The program is packed with Spanish language and culture class classes to take place both inside and outside of the classroom. This international study experience concludes with the fellows presenting their projects at the international youth summit and participating in a local service project. During the trip to Spain Aareel will have the opportunity to truly immerse himself in the language, the culture, and the community while living with local families.
Congratulations Aareel for being chosen for this prestigious program. Good luck. The whole NC family is excited for you!

Boys Tennis: Senior Night | |
Senior night is always a special night in high school sports. You get to recognize the seniors on your team and celebrate their accomplishments from the last four years. The boys’ tennis team celebrated their senior night; or as the tennis team called it, Josh Night, where they celebrated their one and only senior, Joshua Heimbigner.
Josh started playing tennis his freshman year in a double’s varsity position. He started playing varsity singles his Sophomore year and made his way up to the #2 singles spot his senior year. However, Josh was missing the team aspect of the sport and was not enjoying it like he once did. This all changed when the Wolfpack’s #1 singles player, Noah Walter, addressed that same feeling. Together, Josh and Noah teamed up and created a talented doubles team that competed in the #1 spot on the ladder. After making the transition from singles to doubles, you could see a change in Josh’s demeanor – he was happy and excited to play tennis again.
For the last couple weeks of the season, Josh and Noah battled it out against other talented doubles teams. Matches were close, but unfortunately did not fall in their favor. Josh Night was different. Together, Josh and Noah battled it out against Mt. Spokane’s #1 doubles team. Both Josh and Noah hit great hit after hit, poached the net with accuracy and veracity frustrating their opponents. They came out of the first set winning 6-2. Going strong into the second set, they pulled ahead 5-2 and just needed to win one more game to win the match. Mt. Spokane wasn’t done though and pulled out another two wins making the set 5-4. Despite this, and after a changeover pep talk from coach Gruis (Which seemed to involve Josh giving his teammate a hug), Josh and Noah battled through the adversity and won the second set and the match 6-4. A great accomplishment for both Noah and Josh and a great way to end Josh Night!
On top of a celebratory win, Josh Night was also celebrated with family and friends, a team BBQ, and with the appearance of a Spokane Fire Department Ladder Truck. On top of his tennis family here at North Central, Josh also found a family within the Wolfpack’s Cross Country team, Track team, and his friends from Baseball who all made a special appearance to cheer on and celebrate him on his special night. After the win, members of the Cross Country and Track team sang our Red and Black fight song.
Captain Josh-HotSauce-Fastest Tennis Player in the State Heimbigner was the heart of the tennis program this year. His kindness, dedication, and support will not be forgotten. Our program will miss his constant smile, knowledge of airplanes, love of Chris Cornell and willingness to see everything through to the end. GIVE IT UP FOR HOTSAUCE HEIMBIGNER!!
