CLE Rule Spotlight
Calculating CLE Credits
West Virginia is a 50-minute credit hour state. Administrative Rule 6.01(d) defines a “credit hour” as “[e]ach period of fifty minutes of instruction actually attended in an approved activity”. To properly calculate your obtainable credits for a CLE course you divide the number of approvable instructional minutes by 50. Instructional minutes do not include time for activities such as introductory/closing remarks, speaker introductions, breaks, etc. Approvable minutes are for minutes of CLE instruction only.
