CREATION CARE CORNER

Did you know, plastic bags are used for 12 minutes each on average, then become waste and can take a minimum of 500 years to biodegrade? To make things worse, there is evidence that single-use plastic bags break down into toxins that contaminate food, water and air. Yikes! “

“Goodwill NCW went plastic bag free in January 2023 to help our planet.”

How can you help?

Have a favorite T-shirt you no longer wear but just cannot give up the memories or great graphics on it? Now is the time to recycle it and reduce plastics in our environment. Turn it into a fashionable and sustainable bag for all your shopping needs!

Directions for “How to Make a DIY Bag from a T-Shirt: A Sustainable Crafting Guide” are at goodwillncw.org/shopping/sustainability/ or printed directions are here at the back of the church. (no sewing required)

Prayer:

Creator God, you call us into relationship with others as co-creators of the world we inhabit. We see the damage done to this fragile earth and all who reside within it, and we want to change it. Show us the ways to simplify our physical lives in ways that will broaden our souls, magnify our interconnectedness, and strengthen our bond to you. All this we ask through the one who is able to do immeasurably more than all we can ask or imagine, Jesus Christ. Amen.
