Sunapee Happenings

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, all around the town! Lights twinkle everywhere. Wreaths decorate doorways. Children are writing letters to Santa. Shop windows are decorated and much to the delight of skiers... there’s snow on the mountain!

Saturday & Sunday, Dec. 3 & 4: Harding Hill Sugar House OPEN HOUSE. 

Join us for some holiday cheer and shopping at the Sugarhouse. Come see us from 11am till 4pm on Saturday, December 3rd and Sunday, December 4th. We have plenty of maple syrup, cream, and sugar available, including our popular Bourbon Barrel Aged Maple Syrup! We also have beautiful stone coasters and food slabs made from Harding Hill sourced rocks. Bonus - if the stars align… I've got some Harding Hill trucker hats and t-shirts arriving soon. 


We have grass fed beef for the weekend, but it always sells quickly. Otherwise, you can get on our March 1st Pre-Order List (via email) for the next best chance at grabbing retail cuts.

Storyteller Ed Fayle: The Polar Express and Night Before Christmas


Join storyteller Ed Fayle for a performance of the Polar Express and the Night Before Christmas, along with Caroling! Wear your pajamas! This event is free!

This event will be part of a town-wide celebration: at Town Offices from 2-5:30 pm there will be a craft fair, and after the storyteller, join us all at the Center Meeting House for the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, followed by refreshments at the Newbury Vets Hall! Learn More

Newbury Fire Department Association Children's Holiday Event


Newbury Fire Rescue Children's Holiday Event 

Once again this holiday season, the Newbury Fire Benevolent Association will be holdings it’s holiday children's event on December 17, for children of Newbury residents under 12 years old. 


Because of the time needed, anyone wishing to have Santa visit their homes, will need to register on the on-line form and the registration will be closed once the limit is reached.

Local music legend, Bill Wightman, pianist/vocalist and JOSA director and founder, has gathered veteran musicians from his rich musical past to assemble a 6-piece group. 


The group is comprised of John Dassoni on bass, Jody Bregler on drums, Ajlan Beer on vocals, Greg Mostovoy on saxes, and Jeff Hoyt on trumpet. 


They will perform select compositions from the Jazz and Funk genres. The musicianship is top notch with vocal harmonies, soaring solos, and an exceptional rhythm section.

“2022 Sunapee Giving Tree”


The 2022 Sunapee Giving Tree is at the Safety Services Building and looking for your help! The tags on the tree are for both children and Senior Citizens of Sunapee.  Please stop by to select your gift tag soon! We don't have a lot of time - but do have a lot of wishes. Gift tags will only be available until Friday, December 9th. Gifts may be dropped off 9am-4pm M-F at the Sunapee Police Station by Friday, December 16th. Thank you for all of your past support.

Note: All local Food Pantries welcome both monetary and essential food donations, especially at holiday time. In Sunapee, donations may be left at Town Hall during business hours.

Winter Parking Restrictions Now in Effect!


Just a friendly reminder to all that winter parking restrictions have now taken effect, lasting from November 1st through April 1st. During the winter parking restriction, no vehicle may be parked on any public street, way or through way within the Town of Sunapee between the hours of 12:00am (midnight) and 7:30am or any other time in such a manner as to impede snow removal operations.


Any vehicle parked in violation of Section 1:5.B.1 may be authorized by the Road Agent, Chief of Police or their agents to be towed from its location and stored. The expense of towing and storage will be the responsibility of the driver and/or operator of the vehicle, prior to the release of the vehicle.


During the winter parking restriction period, overnight parking will be allowed between the hours of 6:00pm and 7:30am in the following locations:

-a) The parking lot on the corner of Main and High Streets east of Hames Park.

-b) The parking lot on High Street on the south side of Sugar River.

4) No vehicle or trailer will be parked on the north side of Elm Street (post office side) at any time.
