Greetings UCCB,

Please join us Sunday for our guest pastor, Rev. Nena Radtke.

We will also have a collection for the UCC Neighbors in Need offering. Neighbors in Need is a special mission offering that supports works of justice and compassion in the United States and abroad. Two-thirds of the Neighbors In Need receipts support program initiatives and direct grants offered through the UCC's Justice and Witness Ministries. For more information about the NIN mission go to https://www.ucc.org/neighbors-in-need-special-mission-offering/.

Pastoral Search Update

The Pastoral Search committee is hard at work in the search for our next settled pastor. Since the committee was commissioned by the congregation a little over a month ago, we have received a total of eight profiles.

We have held first interviews with five of them, of whom four will be scheduled for follow-up interviews. We have also reviewed many hours of recorded sermons. The candidates we have spoken with so far are all from Massachusetts or adjacent states, but have a wide variety of experience. We have had some amazing conversations and are excited about the process.

It’s too early to tell yet whether our next minister is among the current crop of candidates, but we are hopeful. We wish we could share more information with you, but we hope you understand the need for confidentiality. Please feel free to speak with any member of the committee, but understand we may not be able to answer all your questions.

 Your search committee:

Sue Appleton, Brian Davis, Ellen Hickey, Kellie Senghas, Todd Waddington, and Larry Wellington (chair)

UCCB Supports Relief Efforts for Victims of Hurricane Milton

Another hurricane - flood damage, death and destruction from multiple tornadoes, millions without power, people starting over with nothing but the clothes on their backs…and yet, World Central Kitchen (WCK) is there again, providing hot meals to emergency personnel, volunteers, and victims of the storms. Faith in Action has donated another $500 to WCK on behalf of UCCB to aid in the relief efforts for people impacted by Hurricane Milton. Thank you for your support that brings UCCB’s mission of “caring for the world” into fruition.

CPO Holiday Gift Bag Program: Volunteers Needed

UCCB has generously supported the Concord Prison Outreach Holiday Gift Bag Program for many years via donations. The program provides a bag of simple gifts for people incarcerated in the Massachusetts prison system. While Faith in Action will be asking for your donations again this December to support the program, we also are encouraging people to sign up to assemble the gift bags.

There are openings in October and November for volunteers to work a two-hour shift at one of several local churches, filling and tying the bags and boxing up supplies. I (Glynis) have done this for several years, and it’s very rewarding. If you would like to join me on October 26 from 10am-12pm at the Congregational Church of Littleton, or if another date or time works better for you, please sign up here. Questions? Contact glynis.hamel@gmail.com. Thank you!
