Inside Student Government provides weekly summaries of all major board meetings within student government - the Judiciary, President's Cabinet, Business and Finance Committee (BFC), Lobby Corps, and the Senate/Board of Directors - as well as monthly summaries of University Student Union and Student Recreation & Wellness Board of Trustees (URECBOT) meetings.

I hope everyone is enjoying their college experience while maintaining a healthy lifestyle. To our seniors, it's so surreal that we'll all be graduating soon; let's all finish strong! For our soon-to-be graduates, and everyone else, here are some resources and opportunities to help empower you on your college journey:


  • Seniors! As we get ready to graduate, let's prepare and gather resources to help us enter the job market! Please make sure to check out our Career Center.
  • Whether you are returning to the Beach next year or graduating check out Graduation and Beyond. Browse through the list of campus resources you should take advantage of during your time here and post graduation.
  • Grants! The ASI Business and Finance Committee (BFC) offers a range of grants designed to support you in pursuing your passions, academic goals and extracurricular activities. You can explore the full spectrum of grants available at asicsulb.org/grants. Additionally, check out Student Life and Development's Travel Grants for Conferences.
  • As a reminder to approved BFC grant applicants, please email your receipts to me no later than June 30 so we may process your reimbursements!
  • ASI Events! ASI has multiple departments running events throughout the semester. If you want to get involved please check out our Event Calendar!


As our academic year comes to an end, I encourage you all to take advantage of these opportunities to help you enjoy your college experience to the fullest!

JUDICIARY
Biweekly on Mondays - 12:30 p.m.

The Judiciary met April 15 to approve its agenda and minutes, review announcements, hear reports and discuss unfinished business. Closing comments were heard from Zamora.

PRESIDENT'S CABINET

Mondays - 2:30 p.m.



The President's Cabinet met April 8 and 15 to approve its agenda and minutes and discuss new and unfinished business and policy reports. Closing comments were heard from Zamora (April 8), and Zamora and Belle (April 15).

BUSINESS & FINANCE COMMITTEE

Tuesdays - 3:30 p.m.

The Business & Finance Committee (BFC) met April 9 to approve its minutes, listen to the status of funds, new business and member reports. Closing comments were heard from Randig.

  • Alvin Tu, ASI Vice President of Finance – Announced upcoming final Financial Empowerment Workshop.

  • Dr. Miles Nevin, ASI Executive Director – Announced recruitment for Assistant Director of Government Affairs has closed and the upcoming Senate meeting was cancelled.

LOBBY CORPS

Thursdays - 3:30 p.m.


Lobby Corps met April 11 to approve the agenda and minutes, listen to member reports and discuss new and unfinished business. Closing comments were heard from Regina.

Reports:

  • ASI Chief Government Relations Officer – Shared they have not heard back from congressman’s office regarding the Legislative Luncheon. They proposed this as an event that Lobby Corps can take on for next year. Announced they will be focusing more on legislative visits.
  • ASI Lobby Corps Vice Chair – None.
  • ASI Lobby Corps Representative At-Large – None.
  • Senate Report – Melendrez shared Senate held a special meeting and passed a vote of no confidence for President Mitali Jain’s leadership.
  • CSULB Associate Vice President University Relations' Designee – None.

  • ASI Chief Government Relations Officer – Shared they are waiting to hear back from legislators regarding virtual visits. Reminded those in attendance the board would send out end of the year card to legislatures and Beach Clean Up was coming up.
  • ASI Lobby Corps Vice Chair – None.
  • ASI Lobby Corps Representative At-Large – None.
  • Senate Report None.
  • CSULB Associate Vice President University Relations' Designee – Traveled to Washington to support important topics to campus.

University Student Union Board of Trustees (USUBOT)

USU & SRWC BOARD OF TRUSTEES (URECBOT)

First Friday of the Month - 1 p.m.



The USU & SRWC Board of Trustees (URECBOT) met April 12 to approve the agenda, meeting minutes and review reports. There were no closing comments.


Action Items Summary:

  • USU Operating Budget 2024-2025 - PASSED
  • Stretch Therapy Proposal - PASSED
  • Instructional Fitness Program - PASSED
  • USU Facility & User Fee Schedule - PASSED
  • USU Games Center User Fee Schedule - PASSED


Reports:

  • Jeremy Ramos, UREC Chair – Attended An Evening with Dylan Mulvaney, Undocu 5K, gave thanks to FUEL, Dream Success Center and Latinx Resource Center. Met with teams that wish to help build and design the Future U and is excited for the Top 3 architect teams to show what they wish to build. Hosted the Student Gov Alumni panel and expressed gratitude to Metoyer for reaching out to alums.
  • Devon Chen, UREC Vice Chair – Volunteered and attended the Pow Wow, the Undocu 5K, An Evening with Dylan Mulvaney and Culture Fest.
  • USU Management – MacRae provided updates on the SRWC, Commercial Services, Beach Pride Events (BPE), ASI Communications, Facilities operations, Grow Beach Garden, Beach kitchen and ASI student Gov Alumni mixer event.
  • ASI Senate Representatives – Debose provided the following reminders: College of Engineering event on April 17, College of Human Services mixer on April 24, College of Liberal Arts athlete mixer on April 25, pizza with engineering Dean on April 17, transfer mixer, culture food mixer on April 13, theatre show April 26, Day at the Beach.
  • Campus Relations Committee – Camacho assisted ASI Communications and attended ASI alumni mixer and the beach pantry rename ceremony.
  • Facilities Committee – Sehgall shared the new facilities program has been approved.
  • Program Evaluation Committee – Royster reported on the success of An Evening with Dylan Mulvaney, Swae Lee floor tickets sold out, Love Your Body Week (#LYBW) taking place April 15 to 18 and announced the events. Announced Finals Week events are currently being planned. Huebner gave some more details about specific events.
  • Services Committee – Chen announced four full time staff and two student staff are going to National event in Nashville and the COD game tournament will be taking place next Friday. Shared they enjoyed themselves at the APID event and represented the Pacific Islander Organization. Shared Astronomy Night and the Alumni Mixer were fun as well.
  • CSULB Representatives – Provided updates on alumni, faculty, staff and the university.
