April is Refugee Ministry Month

REFUGEE UPDATE

The picture below shows the last two families we helped at the same time. They were delighted with what they received. Remember this month is fundraising for the Refugee ministry although anytime during the year is most welcomed. Thank you for your generosity.

ALTERNATIVE WORSHIP TASK FORCE

The inaugural meeting of the Alternative Worship Task Force was held Tuesday, April 9, 2024. The goal of the task force is to explore opportunities for additional worship experiences beyond the current 9:00 and 11:00 services. We are excited about the potential outcomes of the work ahead. The committee members include Pastor Ken, Michael Bodnyk, Debra Jacobs Butaggi, Marge Jeffers, Rob Kubicki, Nina Moroney, Kevin Randolph, Kris Soderman, Bob Stobaugh, and Ann Walborn.

SAKLC FOUNDATION NEWS!

Your church Foundation met April 9^th.

·     New Trustee, Ladd Skelly was approved and welcomed to the Board of Trustees!

·     A $15,000 grant request was approved to Safe Children Coalition. This organization has been supported by this church through Community Service Ministry for many years, with meals for the Homeless Youth Shelter, Clothing drives, Scholarships, and other needs.

·     The Foundation is also grateful to support the upcoming Kids Against Hunger Event, through the financial support given to Community Service Ministry. Please join in on April 27^th  to pack 30,000 meals.

Thank you for your financial support of the Church Support Fund and the Community Impact Fund which enables the Foundation to support the many Church projects inside and outside our walls.

2nd Annual Kids Against Hunger

Food Packing Event

SAKLC Community Service Ministry is partnering with Kids Against Hunger for this incredible volunteer event. Gather as a community to help package food that will be sent to food pantries in our area! Our goal is to have 100 volunteers to pack the food. Your helping hands and giving hearts are needed to provide food to the hungry in our community.

Empowering the Homeless 

Join us on April 28th at 10am in Ogram Hall to hear from Mason Ayres, Interim Executive Director of Resurrection House. Resurrection House is faith-based a resource center that services the homeless of Sarasota County. They offer a place where daily physical comforts are offered to everyone. Bathroom facilities, showers, and meals. We are fortunate to supply them with a meal every month. Please attend and hear about the great works of our church and others to support this mission.

Movement and Gratitude Exercise Class

Please join us on Tuesdays at 9:00am for exercise class in Fellowship Hall or on Zoom. Our instructor, Karri Weber, is happy to answer any questions you might have. Please contact the Church Office.

Class description below:

Functional movement for is the mission! With a mix of of joint fluidity and stability utilizing low impact aerobics, strengthening, stretching and body movement to feel good music. Light inviting atmosphere filled with laughter and joy. Focus is on injury prevention and connecting to the body. This class also incorporates improving balance and range of motion. A low intensity but high efficiency well-rounded workout with a warm and uplifting atmosphere! 

Modifications and use of chairs optional! Class is especially geared towards seniors but all ages and degrees of health are welcome!

Name Tags

If you’ve ordered a name tag, they are hanging on the name tag wall outside of the sanctuary. Don’t forget to wear your name tag on Sundays in order to get to know your neighbor! If you still need a name tag, please contact Nina at nina@saklc.com or at 941-388-1234. 

In Need of Medical Equipment?

Are you in need of medical equipment? We often get requests from members and friends who are looking for something to borrow for a short period during recovery. Contact the Church Office if you have any medical equipments needs.

Interested in sponsoring Altar Flowers? The 2024 Flower Calendar is now in the Narthex. The following dates are in need of sponsors in the month of April:
