Protect Yourself from Flu

Flu season is here and the Howard County Health Department (HCHD) is encouraging everyone to protect yourself by getting a flu vaccine.


Why get a flu shot:

• Protect yourself from getting sick

• Protect friends and family from getting sick

• Prevent serious illness if you do get the flu

Join the Cancer Coalition

The Howard County Health Department's Cancer Prevention Program is pleased to launch the Cancer Coalition.


The first meeting will include six (6) community members and cover the following agenda: introduction, FY2025 cancer and tobacco grant performance measures, new business and work items, healthcare partnerships to increase cancer screening and tobacco cessation, and announcement.

Building a Healthier Maryland 

The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) is pleased to launch the 2024 State Health Improvement Plan (SHIP). The SHIP identifies the State’s top health priorities and lays out associated goals and objectives for improved health outcomes in the next five years. Howard County's upcoming Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) will align with the SHIP.


The Building a Healthier Maryland health priorities are: 

  • Priority 1: Chronic Disease  
  • Priority 2: Access to Care 
  • Priority 3: Women’s Health 
  • Priority 4: Violence 
  • Priority 5: Behavioral Health
