Off-Site Events off to a Great Start

Our Off-Site Events are vital for this ministry, creating more resources than could ever be made at Midwest Mission alone. This is how we send so many Rice Meals, Personal Dignity Kits, and Student Kits to people in need around the world. Off-Site Events are a big part of the Midwest Mission ministry - and you and your entire congregation can join us!

Rice Meals made at Off-Site Events have gone to places like Ukraine, Haiti, and Guatemala.

Student Kits have gone to more than 10 countries around Latin America and the Caribbean, and will be going to Peru later this month.

Personal Dignity Kits assembled at Off-Site Events have been sent to Ukraine, Jamaica, Honduras, and more!

The hands-on mission work that is done in churches, schools, and organizations around the Midwest makes a global impact.

Our Off-Site Events are off to an exciting start. In the first two months of the year, we have had nine Events, impacting the lives of 107,190 people.

We are still booking events for 2024. There is a lot of availability in July and August - you could have a great summer connection event with your community!

Why Book an Off-Site Event?

  • We bring the mission to you!
  • Easy to organize.
  • More people get to have a hands-on mission experience.
  • These events connect communities, grow teams closer together, and deepen discipleship.
  • Creates a space where community is shared and memories are made, all while actively being the hands and feet of Jesus.

If you’re interested, and want to learn more about the options, visit midwestmission.org/off-site, call 217-483-7911, or email melissa@midwestmission.org.

Welcome, Melissa Brookens,

Reservation Coordinator!

We are ramping up for our busiest and most impactful year yet! Last year, we booked over 100 Off-Site Events, and this year we already have 58 Events booked, and it’s only March! Volunteers are reserving Midwest Mission Experience shifts in Iowa, and we are excited to see all of the on-site volunteers in Illinois as well.

It was becoming too much for one person to do, so, in a God Moment kind of way, we hired Melissa Brookens back in December to join Pat Wright on the Reservations Team.

Melissa will help you book Off-Site Events, and will handle reservations for our Iowa location. Pat will continue to take reservations for Illinois volunteers. When Pat is out of the office, you might hear from Melissa, too! She is a great addition to the team.

Here is a little bit about Melissa:

Melissa and her husband, Tom, have two wonderful children and two ornery cats. Her daughter Catherine has recently started as a part-time missionary in Arlington, Texas at The Prayer Room and her son Drew is finishing up his term in the USMC.

Melissa graduated from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale with a degree in Forest Resource Science. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, hanging out with her extended family, and leading worship for Tent of Meeting revivals.

Melissa’s prayer for Midwest Mission: That the staff and volunteers be a conduit to help unify the believers of Jesus by demonstrating the power and glory of God’s love to everyone through practical endeavors.

"I love when God shows up! Throughout my life, I have had many highs and lows, but He has always shown His wonderful light upon the path I needed to take. We only have to take one step out in faith and God will meet us the rest of the way.”

Please join us in welcoming Melissa to the team!
