CAWA in Coalition Opposes SB 903 - A New Regulatory Program

Update: The Senate Appropriations Committee held SB 903, meaning the measure will not be advancing this session. Legislation Stifles Innovation, Negatively Impacts Virtually Every Sector of the Economy Aerospace, Semiconductors, Clean Energy, Electronics, Medical, Industrial Processes, Agriculture ... Millions in New State Costs to Implement.

A coalition of California’s leading job creators, innovators, manufacturers, grocers, clean energy producers, agriculture and others is opposed to SB 903 (Skinner), legislation that would create an expensive and complex new regulatory program at the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) to regulate all commercial and consumer products that may contain, as well as any industrial manufacturing processes that may use, perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl (PFAS) substances. See Coalition letter here.

Arizona Members - Drive Sales with Automotive Industry Association Health Plan

Automotive industry businesses can enhance their health plan benefits for their valued employees with the CAWA Arizona Health Trust (CAWA) Association Health Plan (AHP) through AZ Blue. AHP pools groups in similar industries to provide healthcare coverage typically only available to larger employers. These plans offer more robust benefits, plus extra service and support to reduce plan administration—bill paying, compliance filing, managing participant eligibility, and benefit enrollment. Bill Hanvey, Auto Care Association President and CEO, Reacted to the USTR Four-Year Review of Section 301 China Tariffs

“We commend the Biden Administration and the USTR for their thorough review of the Section 301 China tariffs that were implemented in 2018 as a way to address China’s unfair trade practices,” said Hanvey. “We applaud our members’ efforts in reducing their reliance on sourcing from China and investing in resilient U.S. supply chains. However, we want to reiterate that tariffs continue to negatively impact our members and the automotive aftermarket industry. Many products lack manufacturing alternatives outside of China due to infrastructure issues, significant investments in tooling and the knowledge to produce a high-quality safety product." Good Process Key to Choosing Reasonable Accommodation for Disability

One of our employees with a disability requires a reasonable accommodation. May we choose the reasonable accommodation that we provide? Perhaps. Determining what accommodations, if any, we must provide to employees with a disability is one of the more challenging personnel matters that employers will work through, largely due to the unique case-by-case nature of each request for accommodations. As with all challenging matters, successful resolution starts with a solid process. See further discussion here. Source: Our Friends at the California Chamber of Commerce
