EVENTS EARLIER THIS MONTH | |
|
Ria Honda, violin & Umi Garrett, piano
April 5
The dynamic duo gave a memorable performance of Schumann's Violin Sonata No. 2 in D minor, with its broad opening movement and turbulent finale that transforms the D minor theme into a heroic D major, juxtaposed with Heifetz's transcription of Gershwin's 3 Preludes, showcasing both instruments.

|
Martin Luther Clark, tenor &
Chris Reynolds, piano
April 12
The rising tenor and acclaimed pianist dazzled with a program focused on different aspects of love -including two modern works on the power of love, and Beethoven's circle or ring of 6 songs - of intense longing for a loved one.
| | |
|
Crystal Jiang, piano
April 19
Audiences were treated to a soundscape of electrifying passages and sinuous lyricism in works by Chopin and Prokofiev.

"Our mother, Helen S. Gore, was studying classical piano in London before Dame Myra Hess began her free wartime classical concerts at the National Gallery. If our mother were here today, she would heartily endorse the Hess Concerts for their purpose of providing extraordinary classical music to the residents of Chicago and beyond."
