At 36th Annual Lombardi Gala, Friends Help Push Boundaries

Nearly 500 supporters of Georgetown Lombardi gathered at The Anthem at The Wharf in DC for the 36th annual Lombardi Gala

A community of nearly 500 new and longtime friends donned gowns and black ties for the 36th annual Lombardi Gala, the largest continuous fundraising event for Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. The April 27 event at The Anthem in Washington raised more than $1.25 million to support research at Washington’s only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center.

As one of the Spirit of Georgetown values, “Care for Our Common Home” also served as the theme for this year’s Values Based Lecture, an annual tradition at the School of Nursing. Sponsored by the school’s Committee on Mission & Values and Campus Ministry, the April 10 lecture was given by Brenda Lee Richardson, coordinator for the Anacostia Parks & Community Collaborative.

John L. Marshall, MD, director of the Ruesch Center for the Cure of Gastrointestinal Cancer, has been named a 2024 Giants of Cancer Care inductee. The Giants of Cancer Care program honors and celebrates the accomplishments of leading researchers and educators whose discoveries have propelled the field and set the groundwork for future advancements.

The Georgetown University Center for Health Equity in collaboration with the Office of Faculty and Academic Affairs (OFAA) announced the Respect, Advocacy, Diversity, Inclusion, ANti-racism, Collaboration, Equity (RADIANCE) Grants. GUMC faculty members (any track or rank, including faculty employed by our health system partners [e.g. MedStar] who hold Georgetown faculty appointments) for Community Engagement RADIANCE Grants that center a culture of respect, inclusion and belonging.
