Dear Friends:
As soon as we pass All Saints Day, the church year feels like a race to Christmas. Yesterday’s special issue newsletter invited you to “Glory of Christmas” – the St John’s Christmas Concert on Sunday December 1, at 2:00 p.m. Today’s version of This Week at St John’s includes details about the Christmas Market on Saturday, November 23, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Welcome also to worship this Sunday at 8:00 and 10:15 a.m. In addition to our worship services, this Sunday you are invited to stay for part 1 of the read-through of the Gospel of Luke. Beginning December 1, we will be reading from Luke for a full year.
This Sunday is to help us appreciate the flow of the story. We are reading Luke 1:1 to 13:35, which includes Jesus’ birth and the shepherds and the beginning of Jesus’ ministry. I hope you will also join us for part 2 in February, to second half of the story to get us ready for Lent and Holy Week. Bring a sandwich, get a drink from the refreshments table and join us in the parish hall for the reading. You are welcome to bring your bible or use one of ours.
Please see below for ways to participate in the Christmas Market and for tickets to the Christmas Concert. I hope to see you Sunday!

The Baking and Kitchen Gourmet table is looking for cookies, brownies, breads, pies, jams, jellies, salsa and anything else you would like to contribute. Please see examples above.
Please drop off donations in containers clearly labeled with your name and the name of the item. Containers can be picked up after the Market or after morning worship on Sunday. ALONGSIDE HOPE
PWRDF Changes its name! “Alongside Hope” - Anglicans and partners working for change in Canada and around the world.
After almost two years of listening together and planning, PWRDF has chosen a new name. The new name, Alongside Hope (and in French Auprès de l'espoir), was approved at a Special Members meeting held Tuesday, October 15, 4 p.m., in accordance with PWRDF corporate bylaws. A message from PWRDF Executive-Director, Will Postma:
"PWRDF is all about partnerships and this theme of partnership or accompaniment is woven throughout the Bible. As we walk alongside each of our partners, supporting, listening and sharing with one another, we embrace and embody the hope of a better world. Thus was born our new name - “Alongside Hope: Anglicans and partners working for change in Canada and around the world.” Or in French - “Auprès de l’espoir: Anglicans et partenaires oeuvrant pour le changement au Canada et à travers le monde.” The changes to PWRDF`s website and social media will not take effect until March 1, 2025 to allow PWRDF time to complete tax receipts for 2024 under the PWRDF name."
Buy PWRDF Christmas Cards during refreshments starting this week!

A Time of Prayer:
Almighty God, you have built your Church upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone. Grant that, by the operation of the Holy Spirit, we your followers may be joined together in unity and peace, and that we may be a holy temple acceptable to you. We pray that as we, and others, plant seeds and bring water, you will bless our efforts and bring forth a bountiful harvest. May your hand be upon every seed that is sown and every drop of water that is poured. We trust in your faithfulness to bring growth and abundance in all areas of our lives and the lives of our parishes. Thank you for providing the inspiration and means for fulfilling your promises. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
