2024 PA Trail Of The Year: Trails at Jake Rocks
The Trails at Jakes Rocks is a 35-mile natural surface trail system located in the Allegheny National Forest in Warren County. The trails are used primarily for mountain biking, but other types of recreation such as hiking, trail running, and cross-country skiing are also permitted. The Trails at Jakes Rocks was established to address a notable gap in Warren County's recreational landscape: high-quality mountain bike trails. The unique design as a stacked-loop system significantly reduces the typical gaps found in point-to-point trail systems. The Trails at Jakes Rocks has not only created a fantastic trail system but also serves as an economic driver.
A recent economic impact analysis found that the Trails at Jakes Rocks draws over 25,000 users annually and generates an estimated $9 million in annual tourism spending. The Trails at Jakes Rocks is a prime example of a modern, professionally designed, and meticulously constructed natural surface mountain bike trail system.

USBR 36 connects cyclists from
Ohio to New York through PA Route 6!
The United States Bicycle Route System (USBRS) is the national cycling route network of the United States. It consists of interstate long-distance cycling routes that utilize multiple types of bicycling infrastructure, including off-road paths, bicycle lanes, and low-traffic roads. As with the complementary United States Numbered Highways system for motorists, each USBR is maintained by state and local governments. The USBRS is intended to eventually traverse the entire country. The USBRS was established in 1978 by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), the same body that coordinates the numbering of Interstate highways and U.S. Routes.

Download Our Motorcycle Loop Map!
Late spring through fall are prime times for motorcycling across PA Route 6. If you enjoy the freedom of the ride, check out our "Take the High Road" Motorcycle Loop Map, available for free to download on our website.
We're also coming into the heart of "road trip season. Since May is National Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, check out this article, even if you're not an avid motorcyclist. Most crashes occur when car drivers fail to see someone on a motorcycle. This is a great reminder to always check twice before pulling out into intersections, be respectful of riders, and share the road.

HERITAGE COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT
The Heritage Community of Edinboro offers the best combination of an active urban center with a pleasant small-town atmosphere—all in a beautiful rural setting! The once densely forested areas, now known as Edinboro and Washington Township, were home to Eriez, Iroquois, and Cornplanter Native Americans, who referred to the region as Conneauttee, meaning “land of the living snowflake.” Then in 1801, William Culbertson built a gristmill near Conneauttee Lake and subdivided his 500-acre plot to establish the beginnings of present-day Edinboro.
Now Edinboro is a bustling college town and summer lake resort offering residents and visitors alike a multitude of educational, cultural, social, and recreational opportunities with a friendly, small-town feel.
