RB seniors Melissa Perez and Kaylah Uribe-Alvarado have been selected as 2024 Golden Apple Scholarship recipients! The Golden Apple Scholars Program in Illinois is a teacher preparation and scholarship program for high school seniors who aspire to be teachers in Illinois schools. Over 3,000 students across Illinois apply in what is a competitive selection process. Nearly 50 Illinois colleges and universities partner with students to provide scholarships, teaching experiences, mentoring, and job placement assistance. Congratulations, Melissa and Kaylah!

Seven RB Students Involved in Young Community Changemakers Program

Seven RBHS students participated in the Community Memorial Foundation’s Young Community Changemakers (YC2) Program. YC2 is a youth philanthropy program offered to juniors and seniors designed to educate and empower youth to become the next generation of philanthropists. The program’s curriculum fosters students’ exploration of their local communities and the social issues within them, educates them on philanthropic theory, and involves them in assessing organizations and distributing grants. This year, 69 students across four high schools were accepted into the program and divided into two groups. Both groups conducted site visits and evaluated grant requests to award up to $30,000 to non-profit organizations.

Thank you to the Community Memorial Foundation staff, Greg DiDomenico, President and CEO; Tom Fuechtmann, Senior Program Officer; and Beth Murin, Program & Communications Officer, for collaborating with local high schools and organizations to provide the best philanthropic experiences for our students.

Congratulations to the following students on successfully completing the YC2 program!

Jessica Bellm, Montzy Brito, Jorie Eggers, Emma Lopez, Hayden Marrs, Rachel Nguyen, and Henry Walker
